Beautiful rebuilt. I've got a question about the cooling system. On my boat (wich also has a AQ130) the cooling tube that runs to the oil filter (the one beneath the Volvo Penta logo on the exhaust) has come loose. I haven't got a clue how to connect it again, there's no thread on the tube and no screws or slip-on flanges. Could you tell me how to connect them? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I am rebuilding the same engine. I was able to use Volvo B20 engine rings and some gaskets. This same engine was used in the Volvo Amazon car from late 60s to early 70s. The real expensive parts are the water pump, alternater, and starter because they are Marine quality. The thermostat is 80 dollars alone!

I've just been working on one these engines- it had been sat in a boat on a floating mooring for 14 years and the pistons had seized. We took the heads and blocks off, managed to knock out the pistons, re-honed the bores, fitted new piston rings and put it back together. After squirting some oil down the bores to get the compression up and bled the fuel system (which took A LOT of time!) it fired up and ran like a Swiss watch. As a marine engine you can't get much better.

i had a md2 it was 33 years old salt water cooled they had a problem the cooling passage was to close to the cyclinder old ones blue head gaskets like crazy a went throw 3 of them old one in my 59 rason 30 i could change a head gasket in 45 minutes out at see good motor thow always got me home

Ian Stathams dad let it go too long with out checking the impeller. It over heated because the impeller blades broke off and there wasnt enough water flow.

Me ponen to palote esas lámparas, en cuanto me lleguen los faros nuevos se las pongo del tirón!! La clave de esas bombillas está en el faro de lupa o elipsoidal, puesto que al conseguir esos kelvins (5000) a base de tintado del cuarzo pierde mucha luminosidad, entonces con la lupa, al concentrar el haz, hace que se le saque más partido que con el reflector común y baratero q usan los tiesos, lo dicho, q ya tengo mis dos cajitas H7 en camino. Ahh y si alguno se decide a poner estas bombillas en larga y corta como yo, le recomiendo taxativamente que se pillé las antinieblas (en mi caso H11) amarillas rollo las xtreme visión, ¿por que? Porque si llueve o hace niebla no vais a ver un carajo y serán estas las q os saquen del apuro. A cuidarse gente!!

thanks, yeah unfortunately there are a lot of fakes on ebay. i picked mine up from a local car parts store. yes visibility is an issue; if you want looks and the cool factor buy the Diamond Vision, but if you want better night/rain driving I would buy Philips 100+ or crystal vision.

HID Xenon Kits look awesome and I was going to get them instead of these but after doing some research I found that they are not good. too many issues (with cheap ones ~$100) I would get the Philips i've had them for over a year now and they are still working

@polski85 yeah i think that might be the difference. I dont have that option on my car. By the time i replied the first time my hids were on the way, i woulda gone this route but they are charging too mcuh to restock and ship so ill just install them

it's safer.. in some countries it's now law. Motorbikes have always done it you may have noticed. Hence daylight LEDS now fairly standard on new cars. I think it works. You see cars much sooner in the "corner of your eye" and as oncoming traffic.

Just get HId, it better in every single way, and they last way longer. Invest in a good set, its the best investment you'll ever put in your car. I used to get those silver star , but they keep burning out and my god they are super expensive.
