Justin England no it's not good place to live in. Only if you like living
in a refugee camp that it has become over years. All of low life's have
been dumped there. A poxy modern art gallery won't bring the back the good
times.
Not really sure. As others have said it's been run down to what it was. The only 'good thing' is, that you can still pick up quite nice period houses for little more than a song.
I was only a wee thing back in the sixties, but for all I know it might have been your dad who took us on the journey through to the zoo. I remember they also housed big cats as well. It's great that your dad was one of the drivers. What memories you must have of Dreamland; so much has been lost though.
+AtTheBigEnd I do so remember the miniature Railway, my dad used to be one of the drivers back in the sixties. I also remember the zoo, as a lad I used to sneak in through the exit and head up to the petting area where more often than not would find myself rescuing the two goats from the miniature railway line and putting them back. Just like yourself I can still see it all now, the river caves and sky wheels. Actually my Avatar picture on the right here is actually taken on the very train from Dreamland known as Billie, it now resides at the Preston Steam Museum in much need of repair but I managed to get a photograph of myself in the drivers seat, actually I think the drivers seat had been removed hence why I was standing.
+Justin England I could tell you so much of what has been lost, but I won't bother you with that. Do you know about Dreamland? Did you know Dreamland, apart from the amusements and roundabouts, used to have a little open topped miniature steam train? You could grab a ride on that train and go on a short journey into Dreamland zoo. They used to have a small zoo tucked away in one corner. You'd spend time with the animals (some exotic) and when the train turned up again you'd jump on for the ride back.
I remember my holidays there as a child. Margate's heyday for holidaymakers has long since gone and, sadly, it has become a little rundown in recent years.Bed and breakfasts have been turned over to those who are homeless or on benefits and there are a lot of accommodations for young people. One good point about Margate is its beautiful sandy beach and spectacular sunsets.Plus places like the Shell Temple (or Grotto) and the Margate Caves. I would have added Dreamland as well, but unfortunately they closed it some years ago.
Go Pro HD camera car Whistable in Kent enjoy the ride
Whitstable (/ˈwɪtstəbəl/, locally [ˈwɪʔstəbl]) is a seaside town located on the north coast of Kent, in south-east England. It is approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) ...
I LOVED this. I was born and lived in Whitstable until about 22 years of
age and moved to USA, divorced now, living in California. Very homesick,
parents from Whitstable not alive and so do not visit anymore. I loved the
fact that you drove slowly and I was able to relive so many memories. I
will watch this frequently and can get exercise by pretending to walk
through Whitstable. I will actually do exercise/walk as I watch. Not like
being there, but good for now.
It is a beautiful place. I hope one day I can visit again, although not
sure of the best place to stay since I was not a tourist in the past,
always had my Mum and Dad's to go to.
Thank you so much for the memories.
What a shame you didn't promote the town more, so much history, the wood
houses still in place . If you want tourist to come please give more
information about the town. .why did you stop for so long in certain [laces
? Found it boring listening to music all the time
