I applied for this apartment and had to fill out about 5 forms the first day to get things rolling. Cecelia was very helpful and doesn't seem to be the problem at all. The problem is that if you fit their requirements to live there, but are also doing more with your life than collecting social security, there are way too many forms to fill out and the process for me became bogged down by financial aid forms that BSU needs to fill out but cannot because they are still waiting on pending FAFSA info. In the end over a month went by and we still had not been accepted into the apartment. You know that's not too big of a deal to me. I get it. It's government bureaucratic bull. Meanwhile I'm cruising craigslist everyday for something else (after about 3 weeks with no affirmative) and I found a good fit. I contacted them on Wednesday and moved in Saturday. I asked to withdraw my application and refund my $100 holding fee (I know they sold my spot to someone else; I saw them posting on craigslist about 2 weeks into my application process) and THEY WON'T REFUND THE MONEY for the holding fee. You know what as far as I'm concerned over a month constitutes denial of application and the money should be returned. Now they won't respond to my email inquiring about the application that I signed that shows that I forfeit the holding fee if I withdraw my application. Frankly, I don't think I signed it. Taking them to small claims court is kind of a pain over $100, so this is my next best alternative. DO NOT PUT DOWN A HOLDING FEE UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED.
