My understanding is that the GMU Observatory telescope is the largest telescope on campus of any Virginia college in terms of aperture, that is the diameter of the primary objective, which for us is 0.8m or about 32 inches.

How does our telescope at Mason rank among other VA university telescopes in terms of resolving power, size, aperture, etc?

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-u6xE_qQmzDM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACM/-ATFUw1cffM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Zanator Fair enough.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-TWTPswm2K2s/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAA4/pulNczkFQmk/photo.jpg?sz=64
Incult means coarse and uncultured and yes I know this was before Pluto stopped being considered a planet but I think it's pretty dickish to pull people off the street and ask them random questions with a camera in their face and make fun when they get flustered, even if a lot of them are ignorant.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-u6xE_qQmzDM/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAACM/-ATFUw1cffM/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Zanator This was in 1998. What is an incult?
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-gHhj9G3hmGQ/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAB0c/7LcgBvoo9cw/photo.jpg?sz=64
There are only 8 planets in our solar system, Jay. You are wrong too.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Jason Luong Check the date of the video, so, Jay was right at that time. Science had not stripped Pluto of its planet designation yet.

+Ty HarrisOnly as descriptive terms. There is no astronomical discipline that studies constellations.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Ty HarrisSure they are used as descriptive names for regions of the sky. I'm ok with that. What I said was that constellations are not studied. They are human constructs with no astronomical relevance.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-C_L8GeGRQJ8/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAABq8/4E8Avkzd9Lk/photo.jpg?sz=64
I shouldn't have started this :PYes they are used for mapping, but they are used primarily by fortune tellers and in pseudoscience. I don't think Jay should have used them in a legitimate science Astronomy quiz. Thanks for the clarifications. :)
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XFvw-LhXD0A/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADk/JUqfPC8cL-I/photo.jpg?sz=64
+donepearce I never said astronomers study nothing but constellations, or did I claim it was a big portion, but constellations are included in astronomy.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XFvw-LhXD0A/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADk/JUqfPC8cL-I/photo.jpg?sz=64
+donepearce Astronomers use constellations to describe the general region of the sky in which an object is found. Stars and other 'fixed' objects are always found in the assigned area. Planets, the Sun, comets, and asteroids appear to move from constellation to constellation (typically in the "Ecliptic") as they (and the Earth) orbit the Sun. In modern times, astronomers have carefully defined the regions of the sky corresponding to the old constellations, which did not necessarily have well defined boundaries. Many object names include the constellation in the complete name, where the brightest star in the constellation is somehow corresponded to the visible object named.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Ty Harris Astronomers do not study constellations. Constellations are chance, line-of-sight phenomena - visible only from our particular location. The stars in them are unrelated to each other. They are of interest purely as convenient labels for backyard observers and charlatans.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XFvw-LhXD0A/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADk/JUqfPC8cL-I/photo.jpg?sz=64
+RMSVideos you are doing the most, literally just Google "what is the study of constellations called" and every link will lead you to the answer astronomy. A person that studies constellations is an astronomer, if you argue that you really need to read a book or two.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Kz-tcMoD_BA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABA/Hf7iq9koiKk/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Ty Harris by that logic this conversation is astronomy because we;re made up of stars and celestial objects.....astrology: the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world.relative positions meaning constellations. ggwp try again next time
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XFvw-LhXD0A/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADk/JUqfPC8cL-I/photo.jpg?sz=64
+RMSVideos hopefully you are kidding.as·tron·o·myəˈstränəmē/nounthe branch of science that deals with celestial objects, space, and the physical universe as a whole.constellations are made up of stars, stars are cellestial objects.
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Kz-tcMoD_BA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAABA/Hf7iq9koiKk/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Ty Harris no they are not at all a part of astronomy lol
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XFvw-LhXD0A/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAADk/JUqfPC8cL-I/photo.jpg?sz=64
+Kyle Sfhandyman You literally just named 3 constellations, and last time I checked, constellations were a big portion of astronomy.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-XdUIqdMkCWA/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAAA/4252rscbv5M/photo.jpg?sz=64
They are constellations as well.

"I think most scientists are motivated, not by finding facts or by proving facts. In fact, most of us are sophisticated enough to know that there’s no such thing as ‘facts’. These so-called ‘facts’ play out in a set of meanings we have created about our world and we are telling stories, very sophisticated stories, and stories that are perfectly data-based and replicable, but nonetheless, this is every bit as much writing narrative as doing painting would be or writing a book." ~W. Brian Arthur, starting ~3:40 "Let me, then, in a preliminary way, set forth some of the properties of narrative. Perhaps its principal property is its inherent sequentiality..." ~ Bruner, Acts of Meaning

One question, AMD: Why didn't you keep developing Llano's CPU portion, give it 10% higher IPC, and release it? Makes more sense than the half-assed crap that is Bulldozer. Also, why does Bulldozer have two BILLION transistors? I'm sure something like a K11 would both consume less power, have higher performance, and less transistors to power.

@julianopop10 É propaganda pra a AMD. E o principal mercado é o norte-americano. Além de outros países europeus q falam inglês. Infelizmente a AMD nao investe muito em propaganda por aqui.
