Master of Photography: Jacques Henri Lartigue (1894-1986). Music:Claude Goaty "Petite Fleur" (1959). JACQUES LARTIGUE was born in Courbevoie, France ...
I read a "LIFE" magazine article dated November 29.1963 yesterday about
Jacques Henri Lartigue. I had never seen his photographs before. He was
excellent, and truly captured a period of time almost forgotten. His
family has got to have been one of the most talented families ever. They
were so creative! I couldn't believe all the flying machines they
designed, and all the watercraft that they engineered. You hardly ever hear
of families like that anymore. They were so very adventuresome, and
daring. They must have been delightful people.
No one has better captured the fun and intrigue of growing up than
Lartigue. It's a world of magic and wonders. He did his best work between
the tender age of 8 and 18, before the first big war. A natural genius with
the expensive cameras his father bought him, he was discovered late in
life, in 1963, with a huge collection of amazing big formatted albums from
his formative years, which still stun the viewers. Lartigue (1894-1986) is
one of a kind.
each portrait i see is a personal journey to another me in them to catch a
glimpse of myself in another being, a reflection of the same yet different
finding the aura of times that once were all of people's lives, finding the
time in their faces and gestures
