YouTube NextUp Program Submission - Lee Doren
This is my submission to YouTube's NextUp program for video training and $35000. My specific project is to animate the first 37 pages of Thomas Sowell's Basic ...
@icandodgebullets86 This is from Stu from Glenn Beck. the stats are in
"Arguing with idiots" "there’s government insurance in France, but 90% of
people in France purchase complementary private insurance because they hate
the system so much. They also are paying, I want to say ‑‑ I don’t have
that number in front of me ‑‑ 13% of their price out of pocket anyway of
the cost of their healthcare and they’re also paying 19% of their earnings.
19% of their earnings just to pay for healthcare."
I remember a flashback scene from an early episode of "The Simpsons".
Younger Homer was determined to make more money to support Marge and baby
Bart. In a training montage, he was reading a book: "Advanced Economics."
Later, the book was in the trashcan and he was reading: "Basic Economics."
Later, both books were in the trash and he was looking up "Economics" in
the dictionary. I always loved that gag. Maybe you can work it into your
project if Fox will grant permission?
HTWW thanks for mentioning this book I just downloaded the audio version
and it's awesome. Next time you know about such an awesome book don't
hesitate to post a review/recommendation! (Or maybe I just subscribed to
your channel late to see if you already did.) Anyways, I'm sure the cartoon
will be fantastic, this is the kind of thing people should learn early in
high school. +1 vote for you if your project is accepted by YT.
YOU SHOULD DO A REDDIT AMA. also, you are amazing. I am sure with all the
durp comments it is easy to get depressed, but I cannot express how
grateful I am for this channel. You are doing so much good just by
educating people like me who came in to this series thinking that bleeding
heart liberals were the only rational voice because of how things were
presented on TV.
Thumbs up, Lee. Sadly, this project likely will not make it. Why? It's not
hopey-changey BS-speak, it's drawing on a subject most Liberals are
ignorant on, economics. I'd vote for it, but I honestly just don't see it
getting far, as YouTube is overflowing with liberal morons who'll squeech
about anything that doesn't fit within their dogma.
Lee... if you don't win one of the 25 spots you should go out and raise the
money privately and do the project any way! We need more free market
thinking people in the world and the main stream education is to delivering
common senses economics at any level! I have not read the book yet will
will pick it up next time I have a chance.
Not only is it a GREAT idea, it would be a very important project as we
head into the next presidential election. Part of the reason the economy is
such a mess is because most of the people in Washington don't understand
economics...and that is acceptable to the sheeple because most of the
voters don't understand economics either.
As a regular left viewer of your channel, I think this is a great idea. I
often find your videos informative but with too much of a snide flavor to
them(most likely because I simply disagree with you on most things). This
would be a great way to further the free market initiative while remaining
accessible.
It'll never happen, YouTube is for viral advertisments, music videos, and
pop culture blogs. I'll like and favorite this video but my pessimism
(read: realist thinking) tells me I'll never get to vote for it because it
won't be one of the top 500 picks (if there are more than 500 videos
submitted).
Watch yourself, Lee! By doing a project based on the works of Thomas
Sowell, a black scholar, you reveal your racist conservative side... Oh,
wait, you don't. But then, how many Liberals even know who he is, let alone
understand what he writes about? Best of all good luck on this project!
=^[.]^=
Lee if you don't win one of the spots. I believe that you have a big enough
following you could raise the money yourself. I have seen a lot of your
stuff on Glenn Beck and he is going into media himself. Make sure you hit
him up with your video or at least you idea. Good Luch I hope you win!
@HowTheWorldWorks: Regardless of what YT does, Lee, you should pursue this
concept! With your following raising $35k (or more) through a KickStarter
[dot] com effort would be very achievable, and provide many benefits aside
from depending upon YouTube. ...Something to think about.
I appreciate your efforts to bring fact based reasoning into the HTWW
videos, and there by give viewers a solid base to reason out their own
opinions for "how their mind works". I am sure you will get my vote, I'll
be looking forward to seeing more HTWW.
I have no stake in this, but it would be a better investment to get your
own animation training if you win. That way, you can animate as many videos
as you want in the future with what you learn. You know, teach a man to
fish and he eats for a lifetime?
Hey Lee, will you do a video on the french healthcare system? They say it's
the best in the developed world and from my experience it's quite
impressive. Where's the catch ?? I'd love for you to talk about that....
cheers man
Did you know that none of the other kids in my school have ever even heard
of a convincing argument against global warming? Those who think that
man-made global warming is completely overrated are considered "radicals."
@Yamikaiba123 Lee, I agree with Yamikaiba123 that if you win the best
spending would be on teaching yourself animation techniques. I am a new fan
and love your vids, and to me it's clear you are smart as fucking fuck.
your a smart man Sir. i cant say i agree with everything you say but you
got a opinion a lot of fact to back it up and america need more people like
you . the world need people like you . i will vote for you !
Bravo, Lee, just be sure to leave some money in your budget to provide a
copy of those Mr. Sowell's book to some Senators and Congressmen who
obviously skipped over that one during their education.
I'm doing some major political rethinking because of your videos, Lee I'm
definitely gonna read that book, and other books you'd recommend (regarding
political and economical subjects, of course)
I am so appreciative of your words and wisdom. Absolutely you have my vote
and any work of Thomas Sowell is indeed most worthy. Kudos. Do I watch the
space for how and where to vote?
classrooms around america!? our president cant talk to the american kids
about working hard, but you can teach them about how all the policies our
government implements suck?
your videos are great youtube in general is a very liberal place and i am
glad to see that you a bring well spoken conservative is putting some real
talk out there
@The5thNinjaTurtle1 Well, hopefully I'll make it past the first round so
you will have a chance to vote. We shall see. Thanks for the encouragement
nevertheless.
I hope you get it Lee, you make great videos! I'm going to share this with
my econ professor and see if maybe she can encourage students to vote for
you =)
Thomas Sowell is great, but i would enjoy Hayek or Von Mises more. Sowell
is the modern day relevancy, but Hayek and/or VonMises were/are the
foundation.
I REALLY hope this happens. I'd love to see a video on Basic Economics. The
amount of valuable education it would provide would be massive.
