A video from NASA's Dawn spacecraft takes us on a flyover journey above the surface of the giant asteroid Vesta. The data obtained by Dawn's framing camera, ...
May be there are many more craters out there on Earth. It's possible very
old craters were filled by soil during flooding and during ice age erosion
from glaciers 1000's of years after that... If we look at planet Mercury
and our Moon as to how many craters on them, Earth is just there near the
Moon... A big possibility there are as much craters here on Earth as on
other neighbouring planets and moons. having outer Earth materials
scattered & immersed inside Earths crust.
Earth has an atmosphere with all sorts of wind currents and precipitation,
and also has a lot of water on the surface, and also very geologically
active. Plus, people build and dig on the surface. All of these things have
hidden, eroded, erased, and made it difficult for craters to last. The moon
has none of these phenomena, so, craters are protected for the most part.
The only thing that would disturb moon craters is further impacts.
First - Thanks for the vid! Secondly - why are folks so tuned in to the
woman - I have heard a lot worse by people whose names we all know. It is
probably not so easy to read technical stuff and make it sound cool. I am
sure she is given a script etc... If you put too much emotion it sounds
stupid - not enough, wooden. And then every listener has there own
preferences. I have a feeling that a lot of the griping was copy cat...
Cool. The snowman information is very interesting as the snowman is also
associated to Christmas. I am sure you will find many other interesting
picture if you just take the time to view the little details as well as the
big details. the 2 element of energy....Big/little....White/Black...etc...
Keep up the great work. - Everett
As for the mentioned "differences in brightness" : I find it pretty hard to
tell if areas are really darker or just shadowed by lighting. Given that
this is a rendered model, it would be interesting to see a non-lit version,
or an overlayed false-color view of the surface material's grey-shades.
@ConicalRamirez A galaxy is
100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
times bigger than a planet. There's your reason. DUUHH!
@markdzima How do you distinguish between south and north pole? I'm
assuming it has to do with a magnetic field, but are we able to measure it
that far into space among many other magnetic fields? Or is north and south
in this case just arbitrarily assigned?
why is it that when someone puts a space video on youtube some numb nuts
says it's the work of GOD ? IT's NOT the work of GOD ok you miss lead
idiots, what we see in the universe is just down to nature doin it's thing.
@askjiir Japan sent a probe to a comet an went to 500KM from it and NASA
launched a prob that will took samples and nothing is know till now, well I
don't know I'm just giving the idea, others can do it.
Amazing what we do with satellite probes. One day will send people; You
think with the extreme tour of duties on the ISS, you could get a human to
the asteroid belt?
im quiet impressed at that 3d model. is there any way we can browse them on
our own pcs? this reminds me of a planet in spore i molested using the
terraform tools
Yep, we're one step closer to mining asteroids while expanding the Terran
galactic empire. Today we mine asteroids in video games, tomorrow, the real
thing. XD
@hapi3rd Common theory is that the moon was another planet or a massive
asteroid and it impacted the Earth. You moon you see now is just the small
remnants.
even though Vesta's morphology is overall more bulgy than the moon, it
looks so much like our moon; so I wonder if our moon was initially an
asteroid...
Sorry guys, I just have to tell you, I just ate fantastic food, took the
most epic shit evar. now i'm toking up and watching space stuff. life is
good.
i wonder when some ufo's freaks will find crashed spaceships, monoliths or
crazy aliens on this photos:)
