just a quick question, thinking about purchasing this color and f sport
trim. How has the grille held up after use? It looks like a bit of a bug
magnet and hard to clean?
+techdude6693 Okay that sounds good, one last quick question if you dont mind. I'm torn between either the obsidian or nebula gray pearl but I'm assuming that obsidian will show more swirls and scratches. Has the nebula gray pearl still maintained its looks after almost 2 years? I plan on garage keeping but still just deciding between the two colors, Thanks again
my 07 is250 has 125k miles still runs great 0 problems only had to rebuild tranny at 120k down $1.6k but kinda my fault because i never replaced the tranny oil/filter(my manual says its "lifetime" but aparently its wrong) and i drive pretty hard (may hit 100mph+ 5 times a week also do burnouts and such) recommend to replace tranny oil/filter and diff oil every 30k-60kmiles (hard-soft driving style) and you will never have problems :)
+supboy666 I was too excited haha xD... 19K miles with a ton of road trips and still perfectly fine tho haha

Lexus servo motor air mix repair taken apart by froggy
Lexus servo motor air mix repair taken apart I disassemble and diagnose the servo and suggest a possible fix Toyota also by froggy Attempt all work at your own ...
Watch the video again. You need to access the area under the dash where the servos live. Then operate the hvac controls and look at what moves like it should and what is not moving or looks like it's having trouble, also LISTEN to the sounds of a good servo vs a bad one.:)
+Marshall S Hobbs III That may suggest that the "mode" door (which directs air to different vents - depending on the desire of the driver) may not be operating correctly. It would be one of the servos.:)
Froggy, thank you for your video - it saved me a lot of time and money! But
it was not an end of my sad story with AC. I hear quite similar but a
little bit lower sound coming from beneath glove compartment (it is
definitely none of the two actuators). And on a top of that, sometimes AC
does not work at all - I do not hear fan working and air does not
circulate. For example, today I was driving with AC on then stopped by a
shop and after that it did not work. Did you fix any issues with AC fan?
What would you recommend to start with? Lexus RX300 2001
+froggy Hi Froggy! The detective story with my AC, I hope, heads into a homestretch. Today, after recurrent check of my motor which proved it works, I plugged both controller and motor in and, o miracle!, it was working as should. But motor was removed from its case below cabin filter. As I figured out, my own controller works - the issue was not linked with it at all. So it looks like motor works when taken away from its case and does not - when installed into its common place. I guess the problem is definitely neither with controller, nor with fuses. If you remember, motor was working for a day after I replaced a controller but next day it did not turn on. What do you think may cause breakdown - plug on a motor, incoming wire, or something else? And how can I eventually locate it?
Check all of them to see if one is broken/burnt. There is a very small wire inside if the plastic "wedge" that plugs in. You will need to look VERY CLOSE & CAREFUL in good light to see if the wire inside is intact or has a "space".Maybe google some images.:)
+froggy Could you prompt me how the fuse I need should be titled? In a fuse box inside a car I see only one fuse titled HEATER (15A) that is related to cooling/heating system. But I guess it is not the one I am looking for? And how to check it?
No, a fuse is either good or blown. I am just wondering if the controller you put in CAUSED a fuse to blow. It's just a guess, is all. It's super easy to ck fuses. Good to know how to do it, if you don't at this time.:)
Well, that is unusual. It's "possible" the one you got worked for a while & then failed, but would be uncommon.I would try returning it from where you got it, tell them the story, and get another. Before you do that check your FUSES and see if one "opened" due to the use of the system while it was working.:)
+froggy Hi Froggy! A story with my AC goes on and resembles comedy :) Once again need your attention :) After a repair shop tried to charge me $50 for checking controller, I decided that it would be cheaper to buy used one to check the system. So, yesterday I received a controller, installed it and checked AC - it WORKED! I tried to change speeds, turn on/off AC, changed positions of air flow - everything worked perfect. BUT... Today when I tried to repeat my yesterday success - I pretty much failed, the motor doesn't work again. No manipulations helped, nothing! I was driving for 20 minutes and periodically pushed a button - no effect! What will be you expert guess? What could happen? The new (used) controller burnt out? Or what? Yesterday it worked as it should and I turned it off when parked a car but today it even did not start working. If it is a controller again, what is the guarantee that a brand new one will not break if I buy it.Please advise ;)
Well my GUESS is that the probability is very high that it is the controller. A used one could have most of the "life" used up already. You can't really tell by looking at it how good/bad it is.Look for a new one at parts places online like Rock Auto, Parts Taxi, even Amazon, Ebay.:)
+froggy How do you think in situation when motor works what is the probability that the problem is with controller? I can get controller for about $45 (used) but if it is not the cause - it will be waste of time and money.
There is probably a way to check the controller (off the car) using a multi-meter and measuring resistance values at the different speeds. That's a general description, I really can't specify exactly how you would proceed to do this. on your car. Resistors have different electrical "values" that can be measured. Unfortunately most mechanics will not do a repair on a controller, they will only replace it. Sorry I can't help more.Keep me posted, how it goes.:)
+froggy I need your advise. I have removed both blower fan motor and controller and then checked a motor in a repair shop - it works. But mechanic told to me that he cannot check controller itself (actually, I was suggested to check electric part of the AC system for a hundred something bucks). New controller costs $250 and it is not returnable (if I decided to plug it in just to check whether controller is the reason of AC breakdown). How can I check whether controller works? And what could it be else if controller finally turns out to be working?
+froggy Thank you very much!Is the controller located closed to the fan blower? The controller itself is officially called Blower Control MotorToyota 87165-22050? Right?I want to check both those things tomorrow. Florida even in November is not the best place to handle without AC :)Once again - thank you so much!
Well if the fan will move at different speeds when you use the controller (even if it makes weird noises) then the controller is PROBABLY ok.If you have no control over the speeds (regardless of noises) the controller is not working. The noise probably means the motor bearings are shot or there is debris in the blower that is hitting the fan blades
+froggy How to define what the part does not work - fan blower, controller or both?I can only suppose that most probably it is fan blower that feels bad since it was rattling before.
+froggy Before yesterday, the blower fan was working for the most time but making a low (but distinct) rattling sound when on (both on AC mode and on air circulation mode). Once or twice when I turned it on, the fan was dead - on all speeds - and then in ten minutes or so it started working again. But since yesterday I managed to turn it on only once this morning though tried to do that probably four or five times. It did not respond when I changed speeds either. What can you say to this? Thank you for your replies!
Is the blower fan dead at all speeds? Is it intermittent working/not working?Short answer yes, can be replaced, I recommend original/new. The MOTOR speed is regulated by a separate controller. It could be the blower motor OR the controller OR both.:)If you look on my Suburban playlist I show how to replace a controller on that vehicle.:)
+froggy I checked AC a couple of weeks ago at a repair shop - it was ok. Air does not blow - this is an issue. And during the last two or three weeks, AC blower motor uttered a rattling sound while working (not when AC off). Did you fix it ever?
Szkoda, że wolny. Aż się prosi, żeby tam wrzucić jakieś V6, tak jak np w
Macanie i zrobić z niego sportowego suv'a.
To akurat prawda- Lexus to nadal marka wręcz niszowa w porównaniu do niemieckiej konkurencji.
