12/6/2013 Mount Vernon, IL Winter Storm Travel Hazards
An intense winter storm continues to barrel across the country bringing ice, sleet, and heavy snows to many states, including Illinois which just saw a State of ...
Ah, yes, the first snow and no one remembers how to drive. Does the term
"Stay off the roads" mean anything? If your can't get to work, chances your
boss can't either.
+Patrick B yes i would. i live in the u.p. of michigan. and drive 70 miles each way to work. we got over a foot of snow today. but our road crews are better at keeping the roads plowed then in other states. the only time they called of work was december of 1995 when we got 61" of snow in two days.
CarminefastI77: I live across the lake from Michigan. I know you folks get a lot more snow than us. So, if it snows 14", you would still try and get to work? I tried that ONCE, and was stopped in backed up traffic for most of the day. Went about 7 miles in that many hours. I'm dedicated, but not so that I know when to say when. I tip my hat to you.
there is no such thing as "stay off the roads" in michigan. never have ive been called of of work because of bad road conditions.

This is normal weather here in Maine, you people just need to learn how to
drive... The south got nothing, 20 degrees is nothing, if you get
temperatures reaching -20 then you have the right to call it cold...
Dude he's saying you're a chair warrior... I actually get out and do stuff, take my wife places, and I am very active, where as you sound like a 350lb office worker that lives with his mom
Now you sound like the 80 year old ladies that only live here in the summer... And you living where it doesn't snow very often has nothing to do with the fact that 16 year olds here can figure out how to drive in a foot of snow and you can't figure out how to drive in 1in of snow.... They don't cancel school for kids here unless there's at least 8in of snow, sometimes not even then
+Jonathan H The other programmers here are having a laugh at your expense. I put you up on the projector so the whole team can see. You are hilarious. Please continue...P.S. We're smart enough to live where it doesn't snow very often.
Dude you're an idiot, I'm perfectly calm, I'm sitting here laughing at how retarded you are, I have a life there bud, it just happens to be stormy out and my car suck ass in the snow, but I can still drive better in the snow than you idiots who can't figure out how to drive in 1in of snow... I mean god damn, if I have to ill drive in a foot of snow and be just fine, but right now I don't have to
+Jonathan H It's so cute how you're getting all worked up over not having a life. Poor little guy. Like I said, it gives me someone to make fun of while my software compiles.
you're pathetic, is poor little guy the only thing you can come up with? Dude why don't you just go fuck your cat, that's the only pussy you'll ever get
+Jonathan H Why do you assume I never shot a deer? Just because I found it boring? 1-2 million? We get that in a weekend. Didn't know this was a pissing contest, sorry about your penis.
In other words you never got a deer, pathetic and btw I just happen to live in the most popular tourist area in Maine, and we get 1 to 2 million tourist here at once in the summer, so fast pace life doesn't bother me, and I'm a former firefighter there bud,
+Jonathan H Grow up, little dude. I've lived in the country, in the mountains, on the beach, and in the city. I simply prefer the action and pace of the city. Small town and country life is just too slow for me. And yeah, I've hunted a few times, found it boring. I can get drunk in a tree without getting up at 3am. :)
I hate the city because it fuckin sucks, I can survive just fine a city but I'd go fuckin insane and I drive around with a 12 gauge in my car, if you did that you'd get arrested, and ill bet you've never hunted once in your life, yeah some big man you are, pussy ass city boy
+Jonathan H LOL, poor little guy. I guess if I couldn't make it in the city, I'd retreat to some shithole backwater, too. I have all the weaponry I need, and the proper training and permits to go with them..
I'd rather live in the country, there aren't a bunch of smug ass holes here that think they're better than everyone here, and I'd rather live where I can walk into a gun store and walk out with a gun in 20 mins, not have to deal with the waiting period bull shit you'd have to deal with
yeah 20 degree weather can kill you if youre a complete dumb ass and you stay out in it with no jacket while sitting in one place for 4 hours... 20 degree weather wont kill you unless youre out in the woods in a survival situation with no fire, and no way to keep warm, or unless youre a dumb ass as i stated before, if you have a good winter jacket, gloves and long johns youll be just fine... i go outside when its 20 degrees out with just a thin sweatshirt on, it doesnt bother me a bit, and yeah there are quite a few weather related accidents in maine because we get A LOT of snow, fuckin 1in of snow and they shut down the entire city of atlanta, stupid, here we could get 2ft of snow and all that would be cancelled is schools, people would still have to go to work, post offices and stores and all that shit would still be open
Funny you say that considering Maine is the fourth most expensive place to get car insurance in the country. They are among the top in weather related car accidents. Also last time i checked 20 degree weather kills people, who knew?
I could be wrong, but from what I've been reading on other sites, the
prevalent theory on the large Starfish die-off (aside from the seasonal
die-off) is that it's being caused/exacerbated by Fukushima radiation
spread through the ocean currents.
Even if that is true though, there's no way main stream news would admit
that thanks to Tepco.
A few of them have deep water current maps, yes. We already know Tepco has dumped hundreds of thousands of gallons of radioactive water straight into the ocean. In fact, the "Kuroshio Current" funnels water straight from Japan to Alaska along the ocean floor. Alaska is one of the places experiencing a starfish die-off. Coincidence? Not likely. Also it's not just Starfish in the Pacific that are experiencing massive die-offs right now. Many other species are as well, not to mention the giant "dead zones" where once fishing trawlers were catching tuna and other fish and now the only thing they're catching are jellyfish which the fishermen cut up on the deck of the ships to try to kill them, not knowing jellyfish can regrow their bodies so most of the ones they cut up and dump back into the sea just multiply into even more jellyfish. Also many of the jellyfish release their eggs and sperm when killed and that too get's dumped right back into the ocean further increasing the jellyfish problem.Aside from all that though, and deep water current maps, I don't need "scientific documents" to tell me that thousands of gallons of radioactive water will kill sea life in large areas and then spread naturally through normal ocean currents.Hot particles also travel massive distances both in the air, in the upper atmosphere, and in the sea.I often eat sushi at least 2 or 3 times a month (I live in FL) but I've been staying away from sushi for the last 6 months at least unless I know the fish was caught here locally or comes from a local fishery. That could be me being a tad paranoid but then again I also think "better safe than sorry". Radiation poisoning and cancer isn't anything to mess around with. Getting even one "hot particle" in your system, even one the size of a single celled organism, can slowly kill you over the course of 5 or 10 years with just low levels of trace radiation.
