Thanks for all the advice. My plan was to use the subway most of the time to get around. My friend is studying in shanghai for 6 months, so they'll be showing me around and he should know his way around by then haha

Nice to hear, 6 days is more than enough for Shanghai. Dont forget to visit the fake market on Nanjing Lu road. And do not go to public toilets when you are in Shanghai or Beijing, just enter a hotel and use their toilet. The JW Marriot in Shanghai has nice and clean toilets haha. I advise you to use taxi's in Shanghai and Beijing because they are cheap, you can download Google Translate on your phone and download the offline Chinese language pack so you can translate the place that you want to go to in to Chinese and show it to the cab driver. The subway is also dirt cheap. And yes it  can be wet during that time of the year, it's the raining season after all. Make sure that it's a clear day if you are going to visit the Financial Tower (it's a must when you visit Shanghai) Because the only thing that you are going to see when you visit it on a cloudy day are clouds. The best time to visit the Financial Tower is at night, the view is incredible; it's the best view you're ever going to see! And make sure that you say that you want a cold beer when you order beer because sometimes they give you non refrigerated beer which tastes shit.

Thanks for the comment. I'm staying in shanghai for 6 days and then Beijing for 4 days to visit the forbidden city and the great wall etc. Yeh, I had heard its warm that time of year but also very wet?
