The opposite of a totalitarian regime, is the Leftist Syriza party, in
Greece. This shows where democracy is corrupt; the people vote for leftist
policies, time and again - people want the government to foot the bill;
they'd rather someone else pay their expenses...until things go awry.
Democratic corruption shows itself in various ways, mostly, it is national
indebtedness. Politicians in democratic nations, bribing voters for rule
over the nation, is no governmental authority, in its peoples' best
interests. However, democracy is imperfect, a totalitarian regime places
the authority of the people in charge above the human rights of the
individual. This too, is cronyism - and leads to decisions, not in the
better interests of their nation. There needs to be a check and balance
against the latter cronyism - but, there is not. Take for example Putin's
FSB. It is Russian KGB. And, on behalf of Putin, various political
opponents have been murdered. As well, Putin 'owns' various commercial
interests...through cronyism...However, in a western nation, the courts are
supposed to be independent of the governing authority. If this were true,
Edward Snowden would not need to be afraid of an automatic 'guilty' verdict
upon setting foot on US soil - justice is oftentimes, a sham...regardless;
it is a tool for the controlling interests. Western leaders need to get
over their jealous feelings toward totalitarian leaders' abilities to call
shots, and stay in power - the problem with democracies, is that they are
little more than popularity contests. The leadership skills of Putin, and
JinPing vastly surpass the U.S. President; they can accomplish much more,
in a shorter period of time. However, democratic leaders, like David
Cameron, and Angela Merkel demonstrate exceptionally good leaders from
Western Nations...In Canada, a man named Justin Trudeau, son of deceased
former PM, Pierre Trudeau. He is highly touted for the following reasons:
Birth name, Face, Gender, Race...and little else; his policies of bribing
voters for power is an old tune...yet, his popularity rivals the incumbent
PM, Stephen Harper.
