I know this isn't the whole point of the song. I actually love this song
and how it's tasks about their whole road trip of life together. But.. I'm
debating blaring this as loud as I can when I (finally) get a car just to
be a smart ass. LOL For real though. I love it, all jokes aside.
In the mid 80s I was with my partner. We were a construction company with a
dozen guys working for us. We were in Ohio somewhere after I drove all
night getting breakfast and the very cute waitress told me she was hoping
one day that a man would come in and ask her to go with him and she would
as long as it was far away from that small town. It was such a come-on but
I just told her I didn't think my sweet wife would like it if I took her
home with me.

I explain why you should always use the gas and THEN the clutch when moving off in a car. This is something that many learner drivers are taught incorrectly ...
Does clutch have to come after the gas? As a lot of people say the clutch
should come up to the biting point simultaneously as the gas goes down
approximately to 1.5rpms?
+Pedro Silva i have a kia picanto petrol 1ltr i aim for maybe 1 for the flat and 2 for uphill. if you start to roll back uphill re apply the handbrake and try again this time with the clutch let out a little more (towards you) to get more bite and a bit more revs.
What if you're creeping out at a junction to see if it's clear? Or reverse
parking? Because I've been taught to just use clutch control. But it seems
like if I use the gas I'd be moving too fast.
+Jordy Jay The gas doesn't make you go faster because the clutch controls how much power goes through to the wheels. It's like saying you don't want a tank full of water in your house because when you turn the tap on it will flood the whole house. The tap regulates how much comes out as the clutch regulates how much goes through. There's a good demo of this I do with pupils but I don't think I've filmed it yet.
+BlueAxeRacer Diesels have a lot more torque, the best way of thinking of torque is as "grunt". Although petrol engines produce more power, diesels use their power more efficiently. This is something I've been planning a video on for a while and I'll get round to doing it one day.
+BlueAxeRacer It is down to torque. Diesels have oodles of torque but less power in comparison to petrols. Look at a typical 1.6 turbo diesel engine 94 BHP and 170 lb/ft of torque, compared with a 1.6 petrol 113 BHP and 114 lb/ft of torque. Torque is the actual pull, and is more important at the bottom end. Power is more at the top end.
What about reversing, do you still need gas for that? my instructor never
taught me much about it. he just told me to reverse so i just figured it
out on my own and did it with the clutch
+anik928 Yes you still need the gas. Reversing is just the same as going forwards other than the difference in direction. In some cars I've found that reverse seems to feel a little more powerful than 1st gear but it's essentially the same thing.
