I've watched a few of your videos, but didn't subscribe until hearing you
express admiration for the old old card frame at 2:49 (albeit kind of
convoluted, confusing support). It's now been 11 years that this is the
only decision I really truly hold against Wizards.
+ArsenicDrone To me the older cards seem unorganized, the newer boarders to me at least make it look more slick and organized. I understand everyone won't share my view of course.
+chronic291 I thought it broke up the flow and the fantasy feel of the cards when they put those bland pastel-colored boxes all over. To me, now the cards say "generic card game" much more than "object that's cool to look at by itself." Perhaps you care about different things about how the cards look, than I do?
I actually like the new boarders. When I was in high school playing planeshift - legions I honestly didn't mind it but once they switched in 8th or 9th? I loved it to death, then kamigawi came out and I was sold for life, lol.
+root effectcard kingdom offers free shipping to europe on orders over $35 till the end of august I believe. if you want to buy just a handful of expensive cards for the cheapest price ever though, I would recommend magiccardmarket
TCGs are by definition P2W. I like a website called cardkingdom where you can start searching for singles and then it shows you related cards at the bottom. That way I learned out about lots of different cards that play well together and if you spend some time looking you can get really powerful cards for relatively cheap ($0.25 - $2). I personally think snapcaster mage and jace mindsculptor arent worth the money while there are many gems that are sold for like a dollar or two but are really powerful when put in the right deck
+Aaron Richards Nobody will take you seriously if you do that, except for your closest friends maybe. It's still about fun, not to build the strongest deck ever. Tried Magic Online, it's made for millionaires. I really dislike that this game is so ridiculously p2w sometimes.
I once heard, that a high school graduate should wait a year before college
to assess where he or she would like to go from there, ,but I think its ok
to go work in a factory that pays well right out of high school, but there
really should be a back up plan just in case the factory closes. Then
thinking, chances are , if the major factories in town are hurting, so will
the rest of that communities businesses, for its usually factory ,(esp
automobile) that drives the local economies!
Doctors are indoctrinated by College and the Pharmaceutical industry...Medical Education should not be like a religious cult...this is why most people don't trust their doctors
This was a great video. However, I think you should have gotten to your
point a bit faster. If I hadn't watched the last 30 seconds or so, I would
have gotten the entirely opposite idea from the video. The rest of the
video prior to the very end makes it seem like just another typical
"college isn't worth it" video. I agree with your argument. What I find is
that a lot of people speaking on this topic fail to recognize the
difference between having information and understanding/interpreting
information.
In my opinion, part of the problem is that most students only go as far as a Bachelor's degree. For various reasons, including the ones commonly used, such an education can be a waste (depending on how much it costs). The payoff comes when a student is willing to put the full effort in and continue into original research.
In response to some other comments on this video:Okay, it is true that a lot of people do it just for the degree and perhaps that isn't worth while. However, another observation I have made is that most people only consider Bachelor degrees when evaluating the value of college. While a Bachelor's degree is what you get, one should not ignore that having it enables you to participate in even higher levels of education such as a Master's or Doctorate degree. In obtaining such degrees, people learn how to conduct original research. Why is this important? It generates the information that is available for free. The information we have today is available only because someone produced it from original research. Although there is a lot of information available, it isn't enough to generate further advancements in technology. Why aren't fuel-cell cars cheap and widely available? Because we don't have the information to manufacture them in a cheap and reliable manner.
The problem with education is expectation and passivity. Students don't
attend college for the knowledge, the friendships, or the "experience".
Students don't pull all-night study sessions for their health. Students
don't waste hours every day studying for a test because they're interested
in the subject material. Students go to class because there's a dollar sign
at the end of it. It's about obtaining a piece of paper in order to secure
a career. A career that makes you a lot of money. They expect to walk out
of that institution as a knowledgeable, well-rounded individual with the
skills and tools to do whatever they want with their life. In reality, they
get a useless certificate, a pat on the back, and a fatty liver. Those who
actually got jobs either had connections, or spent time developing
themselves professionally *outside* of the classroom. Lectures don't teach
you to think. They teach you to sit and listen to what you are told without
contributing anything.
We are being programmed like robots to perform the same trivial tasks
over....and over.....and over again. Take this pretest. Read this chapter.
Take this quiz on what you read. Go home and practice 40 of these math
problems. Do this amount of chemistry homework. Study for 12 hours tonight
to prepare for the exam. Take the exam, and then start preparing for the
next one. Do this for 4 long and stressful years. Don't question or engage
in the material. Don't forget to pay your tuition and buy your textbooks!
It's a dangerous system. You spend years of your life cramming for exams
and partying for.....what? If you're going to college in expectations of
landing a solid job and getting rich, you're delusional. If education is
required for your field (medical, science, engineering), then attend and
learn what you can. If not, then save your time and money. Start
self-educating, and see where life takes you.
The worst mistake a person can make is motivating themselves with money.
Put the material things aside. Explore different things until you find what
makes you happy. Whether it's creating music or making people laugh, look
for it. Then, start creating and contributing. If the quality and
originality is there, money and fame will find you. Worst case scenario,
you fail and have to start over.
TL;DR: Self-educate, explore your interests, stay away from traditional
education if possible, drop all expectations of wealth and fortune, create
to your heart's desire, and pray to God that you find a hobby or activity
that you can love and contribute to. Fuck this materialistic, capitalistic,
anti-intellectual bullshit. Find out who you are and what you love to do,
and start doing it regardless of the money or expectations.
+James White Im not gonna need much just enough to get me out of sticky situations and freedom for things like skydiving or some shit. Plus I'm going to be hitchhiking so I won't be spending anything there unless I wanna lend cash for gas. And I'll mainly be staying in a tent for the trip as well. Gotta get real adventurous out there ya know? Hell maybe I'll hit the Pacific Crest Trail, like fuck it do what you want and get out there ya know?
+noobie1890 All there is, is happiness, it matters a millions times more than dough and there are pleanty of jobs you can make 6 figures with no college whatsoever. I come from a rich family of doctors and laywers. I have an uncle who has worked at McDonald's 40+ years with no college whatsoever. He now owns many Mcdonalds and is richer than everyone in my family. He had four kids all have Engineering degree but 3 of them just work at Mcdonalds. (owning them)
+noobie1890 My parents supported me when I dropped out of college the first semester, but it wasn't an easy decision. They still think college is the best option, mainly for the degree. I'm still broke as shit, but I have no student debt and I have time to pursue writing and relax a little. For me, it was a good choice.I wish you luck, and hope you figure things out.
Whenever I tell my mom that anything you can learn in college is online or in library, she tries to tell me "but you don't have the degree!". Honestly, that's all the proof I need. We really are going for a piece of paper...to get more paper. That paper is then praised and glorified, only to become meaningless and worthless when we pass on. I think living a life like that is much too confusing and too harmful for humans. Maybe that's why depression is such a common illness these days. Everybody is living somebody else's dreams

+Rashad Mohammed Intro Packs are generally exactly what they sound like - an introduction to the game. At least in theory. They include many bad cards, by design in fact, as they're intended to be upgraded and in fact include two boosters to introduce new players to the idea of upgrading decks.Having said that, the answer to your question is no. Intro Packs are so full of bulk that you'd be paying some 15 bucks to go get stomped on at Game Day. Sure, you'd get the participation promo, but that would likely be it. A better deal, if you can find it, is to buy the Battle for Zendikar event deck or the Magic Origins Clash Pack. Both do cost a bit more ($25-$30), but you will get better cards even at the common level in each one. Neither one will win Game Day out of the box, but each one does make a deck that will do far better than an Intro Pack and, more importantly for you, each one contains cards that are worth some pretty solid money in spite of their reprints. You can trade or sell those cards after the event and get cards you want for the formats you play.I hope this helps!
