I did a bit of repsray on my focus mk1 where the door mirrors are due to
the paint rusting up as this the weak point for rust on the car..
Ive sealed the rust..
Ive primed it..
And resprayed it and now gone over it with two coats of clear laquer.....
Its about a week since ive done the above work and im wondering if the
ultimate compound is deal to bring up the paint to its metallic shine....
I have read this the Mequiars ulitmate compound is clear coat safe on the
internet..
What i want to know is this safe on the work i did and how long do i have
to wait until its hard enough to work upon.....
why not ? you worked hard doing it to fix your paint, take the extra 20 mins and wax it properly. so the car will be easier to clean next time and protect what you did.
I use this and it works great initially. Then rain hits and the blemishes
and scratches all come back. Any help or suggestions would be much
appreciated.
That's because you didn't polish the defects out in the first place, they were just masked with the fillers and oils in the polish. After you polish you should use some iso to remove the oils to inspect the surface
I applied this product by hand on my painted B pillars as a test on my
BLACK 2011 Jetta. I was impressed. Great for light scratches from washing
and drying... It was easy to use and the result was awesome! I'd like to
see if i get a better result with a random orbital. I love your
products...and you sneaky bastards make them smell so good! this smell
like cinnamon! and the tire shine..."Endurance"...which is my favorite
tire shine of all.... smells like damn candy grape! keep up the quality! I
dont mind spending a little more if i get results. I recommend your wax,
Endurance tire shine and this ultimate Compound!
not like with wax or other skins. I applied and wiped off almost immediately. I'm still playing around with it...my B pillars had a lot of very light scratches so it worked very well on it for applying by hand. tried it on some more heavy marks on the bumper and was not as effective...I would recommend random orbital, much more effective. you will need to wax afterwards.
+ron sanchez waxes will just fill it temporarily and then fall out....use this and THEN wax. wax is a final step. Check out AMMO NYC on you tube....that is the proper way to get your paint truly good. Elbow grease! That said... this product worked for me very well on light scratches in black paint/clearcoat...I was impressed....for applying by hand. A random orbital may work better.
Why do people say it doesn't work? It works perfect... I live in tasmania,
Australia and every car I've had the paint is crap and dull due to our
extreme UV levels in tas. I've used ultimate compound on all of them and it
restores the finish to mint condition. Just recently used it on my red
tiburon with dull finish and scratches everywhere. Looks perfect now
Yea good for swirls and marks as well, newer cars like yours with good paint will prob hardly need it but it's better than using a cut and polish. Ultimate polish and a wax afterwards really makes it shine and last
Take the info box off in the bottom right corner i dont care about seeing
that, when you go to close it, your channel info pops up SOOOOOO annoying
!!!
+TuneSpecGarage did you know about turning off the annotations, its pretty easy. Just click the cog on the bottom right of a video, and turn off annotations, they all disappear! Its amazing
I would jet wash the car, then wash by hand using the lambs wool mitt with
the two buckets technique. After that I would dry it with a microfiber
towel, following on from this I would use “Meguiars Swirl X Swirl Remover
Kit" with the appropriate application pads and microfiber polishing cloth.
Lastly I would use Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0". Do I need to use
a clay bar kit to prep the bodywork before using the swirl remover, and can
the products be used on metallic paintwork
@astrosub7 yes this product is used for a variety of issues.....it really
depends on the paint and what results you get. It can be used for swirls
and light scratches....in most cases. If you really want a specific product
for a specific use.....swirls is swirlx product....scratches is scratchx
2.0 product and oxidation is ultimate compound product. There are many
people though who find great results for swirls and scratches with this one
item though...it all depends on the clearcoat.
Hi, I currently live in alaska and as its melting season here i decided to
wash my car at a car wash given it was power wash the dirt was still there
and so i continued on being stupid and used the rims cleaner brush. it got
my car clean and nice until i dried it and realized thats there are now
swirl or scratch marks from the rough brush i had used. which product would
you prefer?
Hey i have a 2012 Plasma Blue Pearl WRX that is about 6 months old, and I
have swirl marks in the paint! They are fine enough to be semi-hidden using
canuba wax, but I want to eliminate it completely. There are very, very,
very fine swirls and not deep at all. Should I use the ultimate compound or
just polish, after claybar of course. or should i use swirl x after the
claybar?
@Meguiarsasia Hello. I have the 3 step Deep crystal (cleaner/polish/wax) as
well as just getting the claying kit, Scratch X, Swirl X and Ultimate
compound and Plastic x. Im curious, Instead of using the cleaner wax, could
I use the 3 step after claying for a better result? or would I use the
cleaner wax beofre the 3 stepp, and skip the 1st step???? Thanks!
the best thing to use would be ultimate compound by hand to remove the
problems....after this, you need to use a polish/wax depending on how much
shine and protection you want on it. But you certainly need to protect it
after you compound it. Hope this helps....you can also download the new
application for Hong Kong/Asia at our Hong Kong website
@bludika the ultimate compound is a different technology which uses SMAT
technology (super micro abrasive technology) which gives you rubbing
compound aggressiveness with polishing results with little to no extra
scratches in it. Your clay bar may be dirty...ensure you have proper
lubrication...yes you should wax/protect afterwards.
I had a fender bender and when I got my car back there were swirl marks in
the clearcoat. I used SwirlX and it seemed to work, but after I washed it
the swirl marks were back. I even used the Tech Wax 2.0 afterwards. Are
these products just fillers that have to be used after every wash?
@meguiarsasia how is it oxidation? the surface marring was evident after i
was done claying my car, ive used the ultimate compound and it seems to do
the job, do i need to wax it afterwards? btw, is the ultimate compound a
rubbing compound or more of a polishing compound? thanks
i have scratch X 2.0 and it reduced the scratches in my tank(I have a
motorcycle) to where you can only see it in the right angle of light! but
my swirl marks are still there so should i use the swirl X or the compound?
i really dont want to buy one then have to buy the other
Hi Meguiars, I hv some light fine scratches on my car, and quite number of
light swirl all over car too. I wash my car once a week + ur UQW together
for maintenance. May I know which product mentioned above suit me best?
Ultimate compound, scratchX or SwirlX? Thank you
I washed my car just today and I would usually use a clean fresh microfiber
towel while washing but I stupidly decided to use a dirty one now there's
scratch marks on my car that look as if fine sandpaper had been used. Would
these products work in my situation?
does anyone know if Meguiars dual action polisher is good for a beginner. I
have been hand polishing and waxing for a while now and I wanted to find
something that would make my life easier but i don't want to have to worry
about burning my paint and finishes.
i have modest oxidation and fine scratches ( not deep ) on my car .. if i
was to use the ulitimate compound do i have to fine wet sand first or can i
just apply the UC without sanding it and what wax/sealant would you
recommend ?? thanks in advance
NEW 2009 Ultimate Compound G17216
Here is the NEW 2009 Ultimate Compound G17216 in use. This product works with a DA machine or by hand and is used to restore color and clarity to abused ...
This compound is awesome... I bought an older explorer for work that worked
great but the paint was just plain nasty.. I used this compound with a
buffer like the one used in the video and it instantly made the paint look
glossy and feel smooth. Before I did that, the paint looked a littly ashy
and dry and felt like it had gunk stuck to it. I then finished it off
meguiars ultimate cleaner wax. Awesome...no swirl marks or holograms.. My
truck looks nice now and get compliments on how shiny it is.
It is really going to depend on how deep this old wax in embedded into your
paint. If it is super severe...you would possbly need to sand, compound and
then protect. I think in your case...consumer is safest and if you use this
product aggressively with Ultimate Compound and a W8207 pad on a DA machine
at speed 4.5 or so..that will work....follow this with Tech Wax 2.0 and
maintain is either UQD or UQW. For pros...that answer would change
probably... easier to respond if I can see it.
But keep in mind, if your paint is really beat up, UC may not do much to
it, maybe just somewhat clear the paint up a little bit. The roof of my car
had some bad water spots and it didn't totally remove them all, but really
cleared up the clear coat and allowed that paint to shine a lot brighter
than it did before. It wasn't in terrible condition, though, but I could
see a big difference before and after. I kinda want to work the roof again
and add some pressure while using my buffer.
Great question, the finishing pad was used since this lexus was already in
great shape and Ultimate Compound was used more gently with this softer
pad. For most vehicles around the globe, the more aggressive polishing pad
would be needed instead, it really depends on how aggressive you want to
work and what result you get. SwirlX can also be used to both pads....again
it all depends on what result you want and how good the paint is before you
start. Thanks!
our mirror glaze products and consumer are different. mirror glaze is
stronger than consumer. #83 is a diminishing abrasive and takes time to
break down...ultimate compound is a super micro abrasive like M105 or M205
and stays wet so it will not scratch at all. You can use this product with
yellow or black pad to ensure either a stronger working area or less
depending on the softness of paint and needs required.
Great Video. I just bought a PC 7424XP with a Lake Country 6.5" Orange #3
Cutting pad, White #2 Polishing pad and Black #1 Finishing pad. Can I use
the Orange #3 Cutting pad with Ultimate Compound on swirls & scratches? I'm
a mobile detailer taking the next step in paint correction! Or should I
step up to the Mirror Glaze Products? I've been looking at other Swirl and
Scratch Removers? Thanks
I agree with you on that. But what bothers me most is that they used this
compound on a finish which looks pretty good to begin with. I couldn't find
a difference from the video in the results, and I'm not saying that with
any bad intentions. It's just my point of view. Most of the time, getting a
junk car with beat up paint is the best way to test a compound.
@boosting21 You may have had the speed too high or your clear coat could be
soft. Try to use a light cleaner like a polish. Is your paint clearcoat or
single stage paint? You can test this by rubbing the compound on the
surface....if the towel/pad turns the same color as the car...its a single
stage paint. Usually these paints haze easier than clears.
Hi there , I've used Ultimate Compound with a DA and polishing pad on 2
Vauxhalls with great results , however I now have a black BMW X5 to tackle
that has a lot of scratches that are no deeper than that on the Vauxhalls .
The paint seems harder as I've given it a go twice and scratches stiil
there ,Should I use the cutting pad on the DA?
how would i go about getting a small (half thumb nail size) green stain
(turtlewax) out of the paint on my VW T2 KOMBI, its a medium yellew.. so
its fairlly noticable. the car is not clear coated. what happend was a
"splodge" of wax was left on and in the sun it seemed to get baked into the
paint. yet another reason to only trust megs
What I am doing this weekend is use the Gold Class Car Wash and wash my
car, then use the Ultimate Compound and Finally use Gold Class Carnuba Wax
to finish her off. I cant wait, I know this sounds sort of weird but I get
an orgasm when I think about Car Cleaning Products (exterior/interior). I
hope I am not the only one.
It's simple just take your car to a nearby car wash, drive home, use the
compound with a DA (focus first on scratches to buff out), wipe with
detailing spray and then apply carnauba wax. That's it. Don't wash the car
just use a quick detailer every week, should stay like new for 4-6 months.
here's a question: if i have water marks that have slightly etched into the
paint, how well would this work paired with a cutting pad, and a Porter
Cable 7424. i have black paint, and the previous owner didnt take as good
care of it as i did, so im having to deal with what he left me.
No, wax does not need to be removed before use. This product is a cleaner
and will remove the previous wax when used by hand or DA. I would not
recommend using rubbing alcohol.....UC is stronger at cleaning than the wax
and the previous wax will be removed once this is used.
