All the shareholders and employees of Public Bank would gladly approve of this lavish party to thank someone who has given them so much in terms of good dividends and bonuses by guiding the bank to ever greater heights. Let us not get carried away with our criticism however well founded after all Tan Sri Teh worked hard and through his vision, have made what Public Bank is today. Personally, I would not approve such lavish spending but this is Tan Sri Teh and his bank's money, they have a right.

Regardless of how the event looked, he very well deserved it. This event is there to celebrate the success of a bank he founded. A bank that he worked hard to bring it to where it is now. Community work? Thousands of people are employed by him. Thousands more went to school, bought stuffs and eventually grew up with the money that indirectly came from his hardship of setting up the bank. That person could be you, or a 45 yr old man. One has every right to being rewarded for something you earn.

I am sure Tan Sri Teh did not plan this celebration, it must be a committee comprising the senior staff of the bank, who quite frankly went a little overboard with this lavish celebration without realizing the repercussions. However, one should not be quick to condemn this without looking at the underlying facts behind the reason why this celebration takes place. Tan Sr Teh worked hard to bring Public Bank to this successful level, he deserved this despite our well intended criticism.

@Kali273 Ahhh , j'aime cette lucidite. En effet, l'ENA,c'est le talon d'Achille de la france: Le corporatisme qui commence sur les bancs de l'ecole primaire. Alors que de Gaulle avait tout autre chose en tete. Depuis..le paysage politique francais est vide. Mendes France fut la derniere manifestation de ce pragmatisme francais qui a fait sa grandeur. Par contre, je ne comprends pas pourquoi ils chantent en Anglais. Je crois que l'intention etait autre que celle candidement avancee.

Tan Sri Teh at the helm of one of the most successful banks in Asia, had you invested RM1,000 in the bank's shares when it was first listed on the stock exchange, with dividends re-invested, bonus shares, compounded, today it would be worth RM1,000,000. Such is his business acumen that whatever money spent is his and the bank's rights, and well deserved too. I personally would not approve of such lavish spending by Malaysian modest standard but this is money well spent.

@pepsi89 let's be clear - you just pity any old men or you pitying this old man? Cuz this old man won't be taking the public transport, being chauffeured around. So no, don't have to pity him. But if you talking generally, i still don't pity any old ppl cuz you and me are going to be old one day, and all old ppl were young once. would you public bankers do it for 2 months bonus only ? celeb is ok but don;t go overboard ie outstretch hands and synchronise flag waving like those in ccommunist regime. humiility is important as you know in malaysia there are many whom dont have. it is driving your porshe into a slum and tooting at 5am.. a lot of us struggle for a living and hence be sensitive when you live in a glass house,

I don't see only Chinese only in this video. There are other races too. Don't be so narrow minded. Public bank has been a role model to other banks in the region during the financial crisis. Everyone in the bank, off all races, have worked hard to build this bank under the guidance of their founder. Celebrating this success together with the founder is not to much.

to all the sour grapes whom did not get 26 months bonuses.. don't complain.. just do something positive and apply for public bank. good luck and long live Tan Sri Sir Chairman President Doctor Professor Teh Hong Piow. May he have long long life so we get to collect 26 month bonus every year whlst the rest of you get envy

@sglimcse nothing wrong with grand celebration and agreed that shareholders won't mind but if asking employees to wave flags like some school children to admire a company chairman? nope, not going to do it. I think we need to have some pride in ourselves too.

Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Teh deserves every moment of the event. He has worked & struggled hard all his life with his enterpreneurship to achive this country and the Bank proud. No one has the divine right to criticise on this grand ocassion. He deserves it!!
