How's the GPS after a year of use? I notice that your car charger is different from other video reviews on this product. Does it also receive traffic updates regularly?

The car charger comes with the external traffic antenna.  It gets traffic updates regularly too.  After a year, it is time to update the maps.

I've owned a nuvi 3490LMT for several years now. It is hands down the absolute best GPS out there! Voice command works perfectly. I don't know why the guy in video can't get it to work. He didn't have antenna/connector cable on, perhaps that's his problem. I've used it in Europe with the Chip for Europe Map to navigate in the little country roads of Provence in Southeastern France; what a life saver! One thing you always need to remember when using voice command (which I almost exclusively do) is wait a few seconds after selecting the Saved Places, to allow the system to load these. I have a very large number of saved places ( I drive 30,000 to 40,000 miles/year), so I wait about 10 seconds to allow the system to load the Places before asking for destination by name. The Mercedes, Lexus,Toyota, GM, Mazda, Ford systems which I've also used, can't touch it! My realtor, with her $90K Mercedes' GPS kept getting lost with her GPS, so I attached my 3490LMT to right side of windshield and got her to the 4 destinations we were seeking. So much for German Engineering!!!

@goldiecolorado1 Well the trip planner is an exciting app within the garmin. It already has prerecorded routes into it if you decide to take a road trip around your state or others Also it takes you through some nice sight seeing scenery. you can ether choose a point of interest within the categories or create your own routes with multiple points of interest. As of the 3D zoomed in all the way, yes it shows direction of travel.

I own this GPS and I also have Tom Tom on my phone. Tom Tom has a few annoying characteristics but nothing like the Garmin. Honestly the Garmin infuriates me. The zoom never does what I want. It doesn't indicate turn-offs very well, the Tom Tom is much clearer. Turn the Garmin off leave it a week and the battery is flat. It does not seem to be possible to add a way point into a route. Very disappointing.

I was searching for free lifetime updates on the Garmin website, found this and did a search on youtube and this is how I found your channel, registered on your website, etc. I was looking at cheap GPS (we call them satnavs in the UK) but after paying yearly subs to get updates, they could end up being as expensive as this satnav without the advanced features. How much internal memory does it come with? I have a Garmin Streetpilot C550 that I bought in 2007. I have less free memory every time I update the map data and the software. At this time it only has 32 Mb free and it failed to completely update the device software. The internal memory is becoming an issue since the software keeps growing in size.

No, all brands are stopping/have stopped supporting MP3. It's important if you are a motorbike user and don't want to pay £££ more for a crappy motorbike GPS that's poorly designed.

when the garman ask's what city you only say Miami. not the city and the satet like you were say Miami Florida it won't understand you

@Charkatak you must enter it by address or city. In address once your done it will prompt you the location with the zip code
