Hmm.. if it were me, I would just install flush mount turn signals, getting
rid of the stock mirrors altogether. That should be a simple install with
just a little bit of rewiring. I am not sure what you mean by regular
mirrors but bar end mirrors should be the most far-reaching type of mirror
since it is at the outermost edge of your bike(?)
They are kind of pricey but worth it in my opinion. Much better
construction than chinese knock-offs. I've seen a lot of people (usually on
sportsbikes) only using one mirror (usually on the left side) instead of a
pair. You might want to just buy one at a time and see if you get enough
visibility with just one.
Yar. The only downside for the Gixx is that it has integrated signal lamps
in the mirrors, which might complicates things, but I could add the bar-end
mirrors in addition and see how they work out. Do the bar-end mirrors
extend farther than regular mirrors, I wonder?

+Jorge Sousa I would. They could be a little better quality but I like them better than the oem mirrors. They show less vibration and the view is more clear. It just takes a bit to get used to looking in that direction. And for $20 you're not out much if you don't like them.
I'm not sure what brand they are. I found them on Amazon for like $30. The seem well made and look pretty good.
Installing CRG Bar End Mirrors and Grips on my Iron 883 -- Right Thing Motos
This is a how to video focusing on installing CRG Hindsight Lane Splitter mirrors on my 2013 Iron 883. I'm also replacing the stock grips with Posh grips that I ...
I hope you used something to glue those new grips on I used to use spray
paint and would put that on the inside of the grip and it makes it slid on
smoother to. I really don't like them when they get wet and rotate in the
rain if not done so. Nice video though. I am looking to get another sled
some day soon
+Gregory Doan Hey Gregory, thanks for the words of advice. It actually rained a little yesterday and the grips started to slide a little bit. If I can ever manage to pull the grips off again, I'll definitely put some glue under there. I hope you get to enjoy riding whenever the weather gets warmer again! Thanks for watching!
Its not a star bolt. It is a Torx. Its a 25 Torx. And some advise. Never
use a screw gun of any kind on your bike. One slip and your fu*ked. Nice
little bike though.
+Mark C Hey Mark, thanks for the advice! I definitely need to invest in a proper set of tools to get the job done. Thanks for the moto love and thanks for watching!
+K C Robinson After a week or two, I started to get used to the one mirror and returned the 2nd one. If you end up installing two mirrors, let me know how it turns out! Thanks for watching!
The issue is not with the grip. The issue is with the "expander" on the
inside of the throttle tube, which, when you tighten it, expands to hold
the mirror in place. Once it expands, the throttle sticks. I'm in the same
dilemma as you right now. Thinking to remove the right side mirror and just
stick with the left one. Good video, bro.
So after further tweaking with the bar-end mirrors, fixed the issue, now I have both mirrors on bar-ends. Looks pretty cool.Yeah, no washers or spacers here, just had to cut the grip a little like you did. Safe riding, bro!
+spoony Thank you! I eventually got used to riding with the one mirror and now I really like the way it looks with just the one. Some people were telling me to use washers as a way to avoid the throttle stick but I didn't like the idea of it looking sloppy.
+ANd y87 I have the standard speedo but I moved it using a Roland Sands Speedo Relocation kit.

I'm intrigued; what's the alloy part on the red scissor stand (right of the
frame) at the end of the video? The upper part looks like a carb but I'm
not sure...
+Neil Capper ....well when I say out of tolerance I think the head in that particular cylinder might actually be hairline cracked - as you can imagine the aircraft inspection regime is pretty rigorous and as soon as something is shown to be iffy they get replaced, hence the cylinders can be swapped out without having to replace the whole engine block. It's not that uncommon for significant bits of piston engines in aircraft to let go - they do after all operate at full power for large portions of their life (unlike a bike or car engine). Let me know when you get your new channel set-up, would love to be an early subscriber! All the best - TMF
+TheMissendenFlyer Hahaha, I have no idea why that stood out to me, possibly because it's something that I had never seen before. It's interesting to know that the cylinders are individually replaceable and also slightly odd that just one of them would be out of tolerance. I would have thought that they would wear at the same rate. =\ I'm well, thanks. I've not had much time for YouTube or even riding lately but hopefully that will change soon. I still have plans for a Dual Vlog channel with a friend of mine but free time is at a premium currently. Keep up the great videos. All the best.
+Neil Capper Crikey you are watching closely Neil - I'm very impressed (and slightly worried!!). The "part" you refer to is actually a cylinder from our aeroplane engine - it's a 4 cylinder Lycoming and the cylinders are individually replaceable....that one is one that was found to be out of tolerance in its annual inspection and scrapped, and I kept it as a souvenir....I have the piston head and a valve from the same polished up in my study on display (it's huge!)....cheers for watching and great to hear from you again, hope you're well??
Be really keen to hear how you like mirrors. Thinking of doing the same,
only thing that's bugging me is the fact they make the bars look really
wide.
+St John Smythe I love the mirrors, have a great quality feel about them, they actually look better inboard (as I now have them set) and it fixes that wide look......cheers - TMF
I know a lot of bikers have the mirror at the low point. My Honda NC 700X DCT is a lemon, so I am trying to get my money back on it and buy a 2011 BMW R1200RT.
+Boodieman72 Yeah, it is a taste thing, which is partly why I held off - I've decided I do like them (they look better inboard). On the visibility front they are "adequate" ;0) Cheers for watching - good to hear from you again - TMF
i like the look of them but would struggle getting my bike through the
doorway were I keep my bike,,with the extra width,, and would maybe reduce
your filtering in a tight squeeze situation maybe,, I want to replace brake
fluid res,, on my speed triple dot like the look of the plastic ones they
look rubbish,,, good video take care shane
+shaneweightman Cheers Shane, I have the mirrors set inboard now and they look meaner (+ it solves the extra width issue). ....and agree on those plastic brake fluid reservoirs, it was the first thing I changed when I bought my Street Triple! Good to hear from you again - all the best - TMF
+HarriR09 You're quite right, my opening shot was out of focus - the perils of filming yourself!!! Must try harder.......thanks for the kind comments - all the best - TMF
