Increase employees pay or conditions, marginal input costs rise, demand falls and these chinese workers go back to the rural areas where there's even lower paided work (if employeed at all) and harsher conditions, China's overpopulation is it's main concern but it's main comparative advantage, to increase living standards for the employees and their families these workers need to work at these factories. Iphones are an elastic product, think of the subtitutes to an iphone. Tough world though.

It's all about hitting the worst and the ones that already have the money and the resources to do something better. I don't see the point to pay billions to people who don't even work for the company while the core of the company production are subject to such conditions.

I think even if they start manufacturing complete iPhones in USA the cost might not go up dramatically if the company is willing to cut down on its profit margins from 30-40% down to 5%. Greed kills people.
