Just being creative. Trying to add to the creep factor of the video.
INRD 4001 New Albany Indiana June 13, 2009
INRD 4001 leads a extra military train from Crane, Indiana, to Louisville. The train is nearing the end of its journey and is navigating the street running in New ...
I caught a southbound INRD on June 29, 2009 after he met a northbound rail
train at Vernia in New Albany. This is 15th street which has been all
re-paved now. You can still catch the local (J772) going through here to
switch Pillsbury but that is it. From Pekin north the former Monon is used
for car storage. I assume this was a train of bombs. I remember the Soo
Line coming in sometimes would have a few boxcars of bombs picked up at
Crane and the NS Police would have to check the seals.
This is a scene that will never happen again. The future of the old Monon
north of New Albany is clouded. I dont forsee the line lasting more than a
couple more years until its only empty railbed. Southern Indiana is turning
into a railroad wasteland much like the upper tip of Lower Michigan is now.
Ah, nice to watch, Chris. The barking dogs, The K3, our cameras clicking
away, a carload of foamers coming and going, and a paper cup (right corner)
swirling in the wind around all combine for a great roll-by. I'm surprised
none of my White Castle Air Releases were captured on this one!
I grew up in New Albany, Indiana ... this video is taken at the
intersection of 15th and Spring streets. I lived just a half block from
15th St. and the trains ran all the time. I grew up with these sounds, and
it was wonderful!
The line from mitchell to louisville is not out of service but just not
used. I think the last train that came threw Salem was around June 28. Now
I think they use the Louisville & Indiana up to Seymour,IN then west
Sorry about that. I've added dates to every video that didn't have one
already. This train was operated before shutdown, as trains weren't allowed
to operate after it was placed out of service.
Probably never again. I caught them in November 2011 bringing in a long
string of cars that were stored on the line but that footage is at the
North Wye just a bit north of here.
Neat video! I saw a photo taken from the same shot in TRAINS mag once. When
you say it's "out of service" do you mean they don't do street running
anymore?
Sounds pretty good for the fact its fouled though.
New Albany, Indiana
Recorded on June 2, 2003. This short video begins at Caesar's Indiana Casino and then shifts to downtown New Albany along the Ohio River. The video ends ...
Some of the people are just idiots, poor neighborhoods especially around
the schools, no car inspection (that goes for all of Indiana), and horrible
weather especially in the winter. I lived their for a year and then I moved
back to Texas. I have seen very nice neighborhoods in New Albany and the
houses run at a cheap price. I'm pretty much saying what's bad is anything
near downtown New Albany.
Okay New Albany isn't that bad! Louisville is literally 10 minutes away! So
why live in expensive Louisville when you can live in New Albany area for
cheaper and bigger homes
No dude I'm not. I'm being honest. All of my buddies that lived there said
they want to get out of there. It's not directed toward the younger more
modern crowd.
Well it's a bigger state.. So I assume it would have more of everything.
I'm not going to act like I'm representing a state.. I'm just stating what
I saw.
