it is sorta for resonance yeah, basically ported boxes like this give a bit more of a softer but louder bass, and sealed boxes give a more punchy bass

How does this dock's digital out compare to other docks with digital out? I also notice you could turn the volume up/down despite using digital out. I'm guessing, it's digital truncation to reduce volume. I should probably keep the volume of the Classic at 100% and change the volume at the power amp.

Does the pure dock, put out a greater voltage than just using the headphone port on the ipod classic? Without an external DAC like you have, will this increase the audio quality with just an amplifier?

+phototristanHow does that work considering the EQ on the ipod still has effect on playback?Only because it bypasses the volume control?Furthermore the dock in this video still does not make use of a digital out from the Ipod since that simply is not there..So it basically re-encodes the analog output from Ipod to a digital signal (hence the need for a DAC in the dock)

Any time you use the line out instead of the headphone jack, you will achieve better quality.

How does it sound outside in the park or on the beach? I have the Ion Blockrocker, but it is difficult to travel with. I need something that's more portable, but, can still deliver booming quality sound outdoors.
