I am location independent. My translation work and various online ventures keep me afloat when I travel but I do like to take a job as well if I can.As for not 'flitting about all over the place' - I agree with you. I don't do that. I move to a country long term and assimilate as much as possible into the local culture while learning the language. I only learn languages that I intend to use professionally or which are important to me for one reason or another otherwise the motivation won't be there for the long haul.
