@rockzone00123 connect your phone to the pc, go to your settings on the
phone, connect to pc, put on diskdrive mode and it should show your phone
on the pc pop up... now open the phone memory card on the pc and drag the
file into the memory but NOT in any folders... turn off phone, take battery
out (to make sure it turned completely off) now when turning on hold volume
down and power button, now go to recovery, flash zip from sd card, chose
zip from sd card, locate zip and load it
It's simply the first area you see when opening up the card in Windows
Explorer, the highest level you can get. For instance, the root of my card
is represented by F:\ though your letter may differ. The "root" directory
is the highest directory. When you first open up your card you are in the
"root" directory. You will see all the files you have placed in it. That is
where you would place anything that requires being in the "root/highest"
directory.
@JorgeLuisTorres91 Your welcome, no problem at all. Witch part? The SU
folder is in the written part but a lot of people don't know you have to
flash the SU folder in order to gain root, so that's very important part.
If you are talking about the Root of SD card, just put in parenthesis next
to highest directory part. Keep up the great work. Hope to see more vids
did this successfully with a few hitches, remember to copy the full .zip
files over, and not just there contents. the bootloader reads from .zip
file and extracts the docs itself. made the mistake of dragging the
contents over instead of the .zip files lol
You forgot to mention the SU folder in the video but it's in the TUT.
Instead of saying highest directory of SD, say Root of SD card. Pretty good
video though. This actually works people. Root was just made possible for
the Evo 4G a few days ago.
STEP 6 stuck... Okay that lost problem I fixed it but now the messege
ZERGING ROOT.. THIS MIGHT TAKE A MINUTE OR SO.. just stays up and my phone
has not turned on or off once. What do I do now. I already restarted the
process more than once now.
All you have to do is flash superuser, by downloading super user, storing
it on the root(top directory) of your SD card.. and turning phone off,
holding volume down and power button when turning it on and go to recovery
and flash the SU...
Are you going to the directory where the file was saved? And also is the
extension of the SU folder a zip.. if not you might have extracted it.. it
needs to stay as a zip to load.. if any more problems continue, message
back ill respond
What do you do when the beta key won't take? can ANYONE help me? I know I
am using the right serial number and boot version AND using the right beta
key. Why is it keep saying incorrect beta key??
People with the beta key error, run revolutionary exe and copy( right click
the top left portion of the revolutionary window to get extra options) and
paste the key into the beta key window
@amihi73 Don't copy the beta key from the instructions like I did. Go to
the Revolutionary website and enter your phone info there, it will give you
the correct beta key.
@clos300zx87 The highest directory is the equivalent of C:/ on your
computer. Go up directories until you can't go any higher, meaning you're
at the top.
My Evo already has S-Off, Do i still have to do steps 1-7?
How to Root HTC Evo 4G 2.3 Gingerbread!
Please see update method that work on the newer Evos: //htcevohacks.com/htc-evo-hacks/root-for-htc-evo-4g-gingerbread-is-here/ Here's how to root your ...
In the video he says you have to UNROOT from 2.3.3 back to 2.2. Wait a
second! How can I UNROOT when the 2.3.3 ROOT ATTEMPT was not successful to
begin with? That's the reason I'm here to begin with. I want to ROOT my EVO
but can't because of the 2.3.3 OTA. Before you get your nuts in a twist
because I'm asking this remember that each and everyone here had a starting
point in this ROOTING shit so don't get crazy as if you're some hi-tech NSA
or MIT genius. Thanks.
Ok, I am running Android 2.3.3 now after I had to unroot my phone to take
to Sprint. I ran a program to switch the S:ON, then reflashed the factory
image. The Sprint store of course update my phone while it was there and
now I have 2.3.3. I have looked and looked and keep seeing that Gingerbread
can not be rooted. I am sick right now. I miss my super phone and want it
back. Tried to roll back to 2.2 and have not yet been successful. Any
suggestions?
The only reason he was able to downgrade to 2.2 is because his phone was
previously rooted and still had S-OFF. Gingerbread is never rooted in his
video. The only way to currently root Gingerbread is to install a custom
recovery menu from a PC36IMG.zip file, then either flash a custom ROM or a
superuser.zip file. But it will not work on ninety-nine point something
percent of the phones, because even this requires the phone to be S-OFF.
Well this experience has taught me a valuable lesson concerning any OTA's
in the future. DON'T OTA FOR APPROXIMATELY A MONTH, which is usually the
time span before a ROOT comes out. That being said though, would it be safe
to say that is the worst case scenerion regarding this 2.3.3 OTA? What,
about a month before they successfully enable ROOTING for this GINGERBREAD?
I'd like to break his arms and legs off.
@zedomax hey men i know you r getting crazy with people asking and asking.
i have the same question that everybody have. im doing exact what you do in
the video but this thing is giving me an error that something the usb is
not connected properly i dont know what happening. please help me. thanks.
have a great day.
@ajhanson96 if you want, you can always try EasyTether in the market. This
method hasn't worked for me, so I grabbed that. Only problem is unless you
buy the $10 "PRO" version of it, it won't let you get into some sites like
Facebook, or any high-security sites.
@zedomax I did the same thing as @MrToryion. Drivers, unchecked debugging,
set to charge only, and halfway through the RUU trying to run, I get stuck
at the black HTC screen and I get "ERROR 171-USB CONNECTION ERROR". It
doesn't work.
@Ish316 The real method he uses does work as long as you were rooted before
you updated. Go into bootloader mode and check your security. If it is on
then this method does not work. If it is off then this method will work
perfectly.
There currently is no way of going back to 2.2 from 2.3 unless your boot
loader was s-Off prior to going to 2.3 on the OG EVO. Be patient. People
are working on getting access to the boot loader to allow us to turn off
s-off!
I can't fathom how cool you must be. You probably have 15-20 people in your
entourage at all times just lapping up the cool that drips off of you.
Don't forget to remove that butt plug before trying to hit on the boys
though.
Will you tell everyone "UP-Front" that this does not work for Gingerbread
2.3.3 if your phone has "S-ON".... And stop wasting peoples time... Oh, and
your root joke is poor at best... "I bet you were an Opra fan"...
Is somebody there yet? Who is actually working on a work around? I have
2.16.0001 and everything says that you cant go back and you cant go thru
it. This is killing me that someone can't get this s-on to s-off
@zedomax Im in the same boat as Rzabladz, Ive got 2.3.3 and the RUU
installer gives me an error saying my version could not be installed. can
you point us to some different RUU file that might work? thanks.
Smart topic for the "views" but it does not say anything about rooting
2.3.GinGrbrd your actually going back "downgrading" Unfair play here zedo
but not hatting, just congradulating you on the 28,942 vies..
HEY YOUTUBE DICKHEADS, I'M NEVER ABLE TO POST. FOR WHAT REASON YOU'RE
SPITEFUL DOUCHEBAGS IS ANYONE'S GUESS. I'VE BEEN VERY PATIENT AND NICE
UNTIL NOW. TAKE THE TITS OFF AND STOP BEING CUNTS. THANK YOU.
Nice you got my channel in the background lol nice video. I never updated
mine to gingerbread beacause I had it before with a custom rom. Sense 3.0
and android 2.3.3 that what I am rocking right now
He didn't show us how to root 2.3. He showed us how to root 2.2. And then
flash to 2.3. Therefore, you did not root 2.3. And phones that weren't
rooted already cannot flash back to 2.2.
I MADE a REAL tutorial on how to root evo 4g on 2.3.3 gingerbread, root was
gained yesterday! Check the video response if its accepted. For now go to
my channel and watch the tut!
I must've tried 8 times, I got the same error every time (error 140 wrong
bootloader) I followed the directions, does anybody know any other way or
website with the 2.3 root info?
hey dont fuck your mother then when you are about to come cut her in half
and the put your load inside her then plant her out side and your'll see
some roots coming out
