Sony Tablet S Walkthrough & Review
UPDATE: 2012-05-01: The US Ice Cream Sandwich firmware has been released and can be flashed onto any rooted tablet: ...
1. It won't be the end of the year. 2. I've used the Prime extensively and
the only complaint is the location of the speaker (which is pointless since
I use Shure earphones anyways). You say it sucks yet you bought two? If I
hadn't gotten the Tablet S off Craigslist for cheap, I would have gotten
the Prime in an instant -- especially with the new update that just rolled
out yesterday.
@akythaky The Sony has more functionality like DLNA (future firmware update
on the Galaxy) and I found it slightly more responsive. The Galaxy has
scratchproof Gorilla Glass though but I don't like the form factor. Because
it's so thin, the weight distribution makes it difficult to hold for
extended periods of time one-handed. I haven't played with any Archos
tablets.
cheers mate, I am planning to purchase an android tablet, as I need my toy
to play flash. I am confused between Samsung galaxy and sony, I tried
playing with them in shop and I felt Sony is faster then Samsung galaxy
(your comments please) or have you heared of Archos 101 G9 (Only issue I
think it has got 512 RAM instead of 1 GB). Please advise
@GetPatriotized What do you mean by "expand"? As of the v3.2 update, you
cannot install/run applications directly off of the SD card. However, you
can access media (photos, videos, music) directly off the SD card without
having to transfer it to the internal memory, as shown in the video. It
shows up as "sdcard2" in the file system.
well I am 10 old I would recommend this tablet and they said it is not for
pc replacement nope they are wrong it replaces everything from gaming pc to
IR remote with a powerful 1.0 GHz Tegra 2 dual core processor and 1gb of
ram (in a laptop or desktop that is sluggish but tablet it is normal) but
it is only 399.99 so run for it!
So I'm considering this tablet and checked a few reviews - all of which
barely spend time on the actual browsing speed (not 3G right?) and the
battery life. I also am severely hampered by this brick charger...would you
say it's good to travel with, can an alternate charge source be
found/used?? Thanks mucho.
@MultiverseQueen A 3G version is only available in parts of Europe so I
can't comment. However, it's past more than half its lifecycle so unless
you can get it for cheap, I wouldn't buy this. Asus Transformer Prime or
wait for the 2nd generation from Sony which uses the Tegra 3 (if you want a
Sony device).
is anyone experiencing problems with this tablet? like on the first day it
started to freeze a lot! and kept on going on sleep mode while im using an
app, i really thought this tablet would be awesome, but im getting really
frustrated :S is there any way this can be solved?
look, I have a store of children's parties, so I bought this tablet so I
can show photos of each party. I want a folder or several in the 'desktop'
it, so I open them and it is the pictures (Mickey) (Batman) you know? what
I'll need to download for this? PLEASE HELP x)
its okay now, i solved the problem :) i think i just downloaded some apps
before updating to the 4.03 android, which must have caused my tablet to go
messed up. so i just reset the tablet and downloaded all the updates first,
and it works fine now :)
hi, i watched this video a thousand times... im trying to figure out wich
tablet to buy. I am a huga fan of sony too and i love this tablet but wich
one do you think its better... the ipad 2 or the sony tablet s?
at the near end of the video you said it can play psp games. could please
teach me how to do it or just give me a link to the instructions will be
better if you make a video about putting psp and ps1 games.
If you have the 'recent apps' list open you can just drag or 'toss' them
off towards the left side, if you know what I mean. They disappear from the
list so I am assuming that does the trick. :)
Too bad about the faults you pointed out, is there another sony tablet in
development? Ill buy this only because im loyal to sony...hopefully
upgrades will improve features and capability
What is the cable you mention that enables a usb memory stick to be plugged
through it into the S1? Can you just use a mini usb to micro usb cable to
connect a usb memory stick to it?
I thought I got a text message when watching the video. Paused and looked
at my phone and saw nothing. Then I realized it was your video @ 25:13.
Sure fooled me!
can you use the sd card slot to expand the 16/32gb? you mind checking just
to make sure? I really want this and the sd card expandability is
importatnt to me
@hellome29 Those aren't necesarrily open/"running" apps. They're RECENT
apps. Apps close if you exit them. Android automatically manages running
proceses.
