Hi guys! I want to purchase a CNC machine for the development and low production of small 3D bicycle parts.. Now Im pretty new to the CNC game and with al the fancy kickstarter promo's it's hard to find my way. Which one is the best 3D carver at the moment for a price of $3000 max? thnx!

+Thomas de Vos From what I gather, the XCarve is a bit like a modified Shapoko 2. I'm going to be doing a lot of aluminium work and like how the Shapeoko 3 has larger, stiffer beams and bigger motors. Both the XCarve and Shapeoko are routers so they have a little bit of height space to work with.

+Malcolm Burgess thnx! I had the same 2 in mind but the working space of the Nomad is pretty small and from what I have seen the x-carve seems to be a 2D rather than a 3D carver. Could be mistaking.. First time I hear of the Shapkeoko 3, seems interesting so thanks for that. What would be the main differences between the Shapkeoko and the other 2 you think?

+Thomas de Vos I have a Shapkeoko 3 on order. The X-Carve and Nomad also look pretty good. I think the Nomad comes pre-assembled and with MeshCAM so it should be pretty easy to use.

I own software, know how to write G code and I can draw and run the tool paths for . the 3d models. But what I don't have is a Milling machine or a CNC router. So what controller does this machine run on? this is a serious question im not being a smarty pants. my picture is a plane I designed in School. I made a mold for it with a Tormach PCN 1100 with a Fanuc controller with Mach3.

U didnt make any video of making some cool RC parts with this machine ? Do u use it at all ? I recently bought a 3040 CNC with an 800 watt water cooled spindle.. seems to be a decent machine..
