In this video tutorial, Scott Kelby, author of many best selling books on digital photography, will teach you how to compose a professional looking portrait using a ...
I know the chances of me getting a reply here are extremely slim but what's
worth learning, definitely worth giving a shot :p I have bought volumes 1,
2 and 3 of The Digital Photography and read them and improved amazingly and
was wondering what other books have you wrote? I am considering getting
them all, including Photoshop lessons. Please anyone link me to a page
where I can see all the book that have been published by Scott Kelby.
Thanks if you're still reading :p
Your comment only shows how little you know of photography. It's all about
light and It's in the name. I would love to see you get that shallow depth
of field on a mobile phone camera. And it is simplest to use natural light.
You don't need a lot of lighting equipment, flash gear, reflectors,
umbrellas etc. Wide lenses? He is using a 70-200mm 2.8. It is not a wide
angle lens.
hi scott i have the book and disc of the photo recipes live behind the
scenes and i have tried to play the disc on both computer and dvd and it
does not work what i would like to know is does the disc play only on the
american dvd's or a specific rang of computer programs at pressent i see it
as a waste yours truly J B
Yes, getting closer gives you a good depth of field. But a long range lens
at its maximum is much better than using a short focal length and getting
closer. If you have ever been to professional photo shoots, you would
understand the importance of tripods.
One thing, maybe a detail, but the chance of your camera overexposing in a
predominantly white environement like in this vid is pretty slim. LOL . If
anything it would underexpose (remember , light meters want to reduce
everything to +/- 18% grey)
The explanations of actually using settings on the camera is terrible... an
amateur or new photography student wouldn't have a clue what he's talking
about... especially because he doesn't use proper nomenclature. No gray
card? No light meter?

@fox428 Absolutely. This guy uses two paragraphs of words to get to one
sentence of useful information. Reminds me of those plastic wind up chatter
teeth toys. What a annoying chatterbox....
Sometimes, you make it more complex than it really is. I am sure my mobile
phone can take a similar picture with none of the lightening diffuser,
natural light or wide lenses....
Ever since I discovered his books at Barnes and Noble, he became my mentor
and I have made many nice shots and even got prizes for it and it all
thanks to Mr. Scott Kelby!
It would have been nice to see a shot without the diffuser to compare with
the shot with it, so that we could see the difference. But it's still a
very good video.
