Was the last supper a passover meal?
This question comes up a lot and is worthy of study. There are very few things I'm totally 100% sure about incuding this but let me share with you why I have ...
Interesting points, but putting all of the rabbinical tradition and
extra-biblical assumptions aside, and sticking strictly to the text, we can
clearly see that it was indeed the Passover by a simple comparison of the
synoptic text of John 13, Luke 22, Mark 14, Matthew 26, and 1st Corinthians
11. All 4 accounts list the events of that day in a similar, but varied
fashion, in that by reading all 4 as one unit, you are given a fuller,
clearer picture, of the events and conversations surrounding this solemn
historical Passover event.
Zachary when Judas got up and Yeshua said (do what you have to do quickly
)was t he talking about Judas going to the priest and selling Yeshua that
night ?????
+Maria Gonzalez Yes...but the disciples are thinking he is going to buy something for the feast...If they were doing the passover meal...No stores would be open. There would be no place to buy anything.
If you read your Bible you will see that there is no mention of the feast
day after his crucifixion. An important day like that certainly would have
been mentioned.
+Zachary Bauer yes watched the video, a prisoner was released on "the feast day" this is the day Barabbas was released. You didn't give any examples of the feast after the crucifixion, so not sure why you say that.
Ok, you sound nice enough for me, so i am going to give it a try. As you
can see from my name i am Greek. English is my second language. Any ways,
here we go. On your reason one, video:3:16. you state, (it would of been a
high Sabbath.)That is wrong, because it was Thursday evening, not Friday.
Remember he was arrested during the night, took him here and there during
the night, and then when Friday came they took him to Pilate. They
Crucified him, died on the same day (Friday) and at night was buried. The
next day was SABBATH. Now for your reason 2. Sorry but your reason is very
weak, and untrue. Now lets talk about your reason 2. Why are you hiding
information just so you can be right? Shame on you. You mention Mark 14:1
and 22. but not 14: 12-17. up to this point the word AZYMA AZYMON it
is the (name of the feast) but when Jesus took the actual thing in his hand
( BREAD WITH OUT ZYME.) there is no way the writer will write, then he took
the AZYMO, (Unleavened) He will write as he did, he pic up the BREAD.
Anyways, please respond on this 2 then we will talk about the other 2.
Thank you.
+thomas dimitriou How am I discrediting Jesus? Were you speaking to me or to Zach? I am not Zach, I just wanted to share with you the knowledge that the first day of the feast of unleavened bread is a sabbath. In Passover week there is always more than one sabbath and this often is not known by christians.
+yodheytheway No, i am sorry but i am not going to say that your answer it help. I see some other men took the time to show you that, at least on this one you are wrong. i respect a man that corrects his statements after he sees that he made a mistake. Also the other thing i felt is that, you are trying to discredit Jesus so much, of who he is, what he did, and say, You forgetting that out there are people who know how to read and write. Thank for listening.
Hi Thomas on the first reason, it would have been a HIGH Sabbath, meaning the 1st day of the feast of unleavened bread, which is a high Sabbath. Saturday is the weekly Sabbath. Hope that helps. Shalom.
Zac, from what I can tell, you have one video on the "gospel message".
It's from 2012 and called "obama bucks and the gospel message" and it's
about a minute or so long and involves the price of gas.
Why don't you tell us what the gospel is instead of trying to get us all to
be disciples of Moses?
Oops....my mistake. Just found one called "gospel tract time" also from 2012 with no comments at all. Your gospel message is "repent, read your bible and obey it".....a heretical gospel of total "works". You should know that repent just means "change your mind" and not "be sorry for your sins" unless "of your sins" follows it. Even "repent" is a message of "works" but it's more of a promise toward works. You will not find the word repent once in John's gospel nor his epistles. It is always a message of "believe"
+Jimvesterstallone I have problem understanding Matthew 26:17. That day could not be the first day of the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. It could not be the 14th day of Nisan and so it has to be the 13th day of Nisan or earlier. Can anyone help me or can anyone help with original Hebrew text.Thank you.
+Escorpion Venenoso You are talking a lot of foolishness. Listen to your self. ( Oh why did the writer wrote exactly what was on the table) was spoons, was forks, was toothpicks, salt, pepper, Are you fucking kidding us man.
+Jimvesterstallone But he didn't. The Pharisees would've been eating their own Passovers too. and they would want to bother entering into the gates of a Roman gentile court on a High Sabbath. Jesus was not eating a Passover meal and he most likely ate Leavened bread and wine, not "unleavened" bread. Read the greek word for 'bread'. Its a loaf, its leavened=not Passover. also there is no mention of them eating a lamb or bitter herbs because Jesus is the ultimate lamb of God who was once sacrificed.
+Escorpion VenenosoOne can eat a meal and die later in the same day.You are saying Yeshua was in error...that He either lied, or He was wrong. You do not seem to know Who He is. What other words of His do you not believe? This is a very scary position you are taking.I believe every Word my Savior ever said.
+Jimvesterstallone BUt Yeshua did not because he died on the day of Passover? theres not mention of lamb or bitter herbs eaten by yeshua on the last supper. Only the Leavened Bread and Wine he instituted in the New Covenant
+Joseph Sarcophage"Now on the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand; **I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples**.”’”19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.20 When evening had come, He sat down with the twelve. 21 Now as they were eating, He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.”"This could not be more straightforward. It makes me sad that Satan has succeeded in confusing some of the flock over something so basic. :(Either Yeshua lied, or He kept the Passover with His disciples as He said He would.Jesus said "I will keep the Passover at your house with My disciples." And then they prepared it. And then He did. Period.
