This looks exceptional! Yeah, probably not real Szechuan, but anyone who
cares needs to get a hobby. Or a life. LOL As you mentioned, I can easily
see bumping up the orange - ginger sauce. That's what makes it, and that
flavor with the beef has to be fantastic. I've been using the ginger paste
myself as a time saver, and I find it does VERY well, but use it before it
goes out of date.
Just a tip... (Having a Chinese wife has given me the gumption to become an
accomplished stir-fryer... :) Hot pot becomes too cold when so much beef is
added at once. Try to break up the beef searing into at least 3 batches to
keep the pot at optimum temperature. Otherwise, the meat will soak up the
oil instead of sear properly... Oh, how I LOVE stirfry!!! :) isn't it fun!?
LOL
OMG, I want that!! I can only imagine what it smells like and how it
tastes...heaven. Those little orange slices, I learned from the Food
Network, are call orange supremes. Apparently they are something that the
FN folks love telling us they are very fancy-smancy. Whatever.
Mmmmm. Looks very good! I love orange beef. The last one I had was very
spicy, though. With whole hot red chilies. Too spicy for me. This really
looks appealing and tasty. Did you remove the orange zest? if you said, I
missed that. - roc
what a beautiful looking dish! it inspires me to make something lighter
than what ive been doing lately... between fooling around with deep frying
for my vids and trying to serve high-calories meals to mom, i am getting
heavied out.
Those schmancy Food Network snobs need to get their butts down here to
Florida. I'll show 'em how to REALLY peel and segment an orange. And we do
it with our fingers, not a knife. Ha! Orange supremes my hiney.....
Beth I make something like this but put it over mashed potatoes. It's been
years though since I made it. This recipe brought it back to my memory.
Girl it looks sooo good! Hugs!
Looks really good! Was the beef tender? I'm making my shopping list right
now for tomorrow. Thanks for another wonderful, colorful and healthy dish!
:) xx
