Wat Nong Pah Pong - Ajarn Chah's Temple - Thailand
Ajahn Chah is one of my favorite Buddhist teachers. He created a couple of wats (temples) in the forest tradition. I might be correct in saying he reintroduced the ...
Yeah, I've been there too! Ajahn Buddhadassa Bhikku's monastary. I agree with you.. It's also a very nice and authentic place. I prefer the monastarys of the Dutanga tradition. They offer that feeling of freedom that is rather hard to find in the monastic world.
Yesssss I did! And I will go there again. I went both to wat Nong Pah Pong and to wat Pah Nannachat. Both very nice places with a quet peaceful atmospfere.
+Thailand Living Lay people don't really forget him, but they usually go to the temple in the morning to give food/alms to the monk. After the monks finish having Janghun (breakfast), lay people will be back to go to work, then it will be the time for monks to practice meditation and do their routines.
Thank you so much for this tour. Amazing to see this temple having read so
much about it. I also read Ajahn Chah's book; 'Food For The Heart'
recently, which inspired me a lot in my practice. He was a truly gifted
monk.
Aj. Chah is one of my favorites too. Glad you liked the video.
Last Words of Buddha
Homosexuality and Buddhism
by Jake Jasurda through Professor Rev. Dr. James Kenneth Powell II, opensourcebuddhism.org This piece investigates the openness of the Buddhist tradition ...
Homage to All buddhas and all sentient beings! So I am Gay, and i consider
myself a disciple, and i find it heartening that people have it right! The
Buddha is the teacher of love and peace (among other principles), which are
the attainment of true Nibbana. Question though, can one be in a comitted
relationship, be a lay disciple, and yet attain Enlightenment? I have heard
storries of Buddhas who have reached enlightenment through cutting open a
cat; seems a bit odd. So is anything possible?
well...it all depends upon which Buddhists you listen to. They will all
tell you they have the best system (actually, a few of them don't quite),
Buddha admitted homosexuals even male prostitutes in, but once in an
agreeing to his rules, no sex anyway. so it just plain old doesn't matter
if you like to follow old time buddha believin'. if you ask thepro-sex
tantric buddhists of india, nepal and tibet and mongolia, we will
male/female shiva shakti trends the involve acknowledging the body .
@opensourcebuddhism ;You could well be right, I'm not a follower of the
Tibetan path (Theravdan) but it was interesting to watch a "Religous"
figure say, in public view, that they were wrong. The idea of homosexuality
in terms of the Buddha's path really shouldn't matter any more than being
left-handed or right-handed.. in my mind it is irrelevant. What matters is
how we act rather than what we are. Interesting video post.
The Dalai Lama is a spiritual leader first and has always been. And he has
NEVER advocated prison for gays. He would NEVER do it. He has said that
only the "real sex" of a man and woman is acceptable and sex methods other
than that like masturbating, oral sex etc are not acceptable interms of
Buddhism. And since gay sex doesn't involve a penis and a vagina, he is
saying that it is not acceptable interms of Buddhism.
"Fuck homos and fuck Budda [sic]" This was a second hostile comment on
these wonderful videographies. Well, to the apparent homophobe, you
misspelled "Buddha" as Budda. Just confirms me in my opinion that
homophobes are illiterate and ignorant. Unless I am wrong, and it is an
expression of joy. Alas, you cannot fuck the Buddha for he is celibate. I
could find you a homosexual to fuck you though.
@opensourcebuddhism Not very long ago the Dalai Lama changed his stance on
homosexuality mid agruement on why he thought it was wrong. He then stated
that sexual orientation doesn't matter, what matters is the same with all
things.... it is how you practice. It (gay) is not wrong, we are what we
are. What matters is if we do things that harm or don't harm others.
@Abazin89 The Dalai Lama doesn't like it...but the Buddha didn't think
homosexuality any "worse" than any other sex, but thought of course, all
sex is based on "clinging". In tantric tradition, it is seen as part of
awakening. Does that answer this question? Buddha even allowed male
prostitutes into his community...but then they had to stop those
activities.
You hit the nail on the head: what has been happening with a lot of
recognized clergy of all faiths is that their devotion is, not to nature or
the creator, but to money. The problem with mankind is his own intellect:
Ironically, It has made him so stupid that he has blown right past the
basic level of common sense!
@TheTruth2life Well, you show yourself nicely so-called "truth 2 life".
What kind of hatred have we here? Is it Buddhist hatred for homosexuals or
Christian. I am used to the latter, but I haven't encountered many anti-gay
Buddhists. Reveal yourself! Who are you, Christian anti-homosexual, or
Buddhist!
@ricksullivan The Dalai Lama is a politician. I am sure the incessant
negative feedback from wealthy - sometimes gay - contributors fed his
decision to be more tolerant of gays. Seems to me though, I read he once
advocated prison for gays.
@opensourcebuddhism I HATE CHRISTIANS they have done nothing good for this
world and i truly beileve they will all burn in hell :) they have no morals
and no heart.
