@NumberOneCollegeFan 1. That is an illegal hit according to the rules of college football today. It doesn't matter if you don't agree with the rules it still makes it illegal. I hate the targeting rule but it is the rule. 2. The guy led with his helmet. At least give yourself the benefit of the doubt by coming in with the shoulder. Leading with the helmet is not only dangerous for the guy you hit but its stupid as you can severely injure yourself.

It's football, let them hit! All these new rules protecting players is bullshit. These guys know the risks involved in the sport and have accepted the fact they might get hurt. Football will soon be a game of the past because new rules will continue to plague the sport until no one wants to watch anymore.

I think it's funny that u guys call him a puss he is one of the toughest receivers out there watch him in the Alabama game he lays out for balls and catches it even though he knows hell get popped gets right back up and yells so loud that I could hear it all the from Tuscaloosa he is a stud.

One of the announcers tells it like it is, the other immediately comes in with the spin. "Swope was trying to duck"....lol. Does'nt seem like all that vicious of a hit, but if you are going to enforce the rules as they are stated this ones a no brainer.1:16

Some of you don't know what the "crown" of the helmet is. Martin's facemask is planted in Swope's left shoulder pad...only reason it wasn't underneath his shoulder is because Swope is being dragged down from behind. Clearly NOT targeting.

Awesome hit, unfortunately Martin led with his helmet, and hit Swope close enough to the helmet to draw the flag. If he leads with his shoulder, I think there is no flag. Still, great hit by Martin, that guy could really blow people up.

Should not have been a penalty, however, I would rather be Martin than Swope at the end of that play(and the end of the game) cheap call but met the standards of helmet to helmet. welcome to the new age of football.

No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet.... That is the rule, and that's what happened... Do better research before you make assumptions

This is a clean hit. The defender tried to stay at pad level but Swoop put his helmet down at the last second. How can you predict that in football? Come on refs, you gotta let some things go.
