Oil Ocean...sounds like an environmental atrocity that only Eggman could enjoy. When I first played this level, I thought the oil was an auto-kill. So when I faced against RoBUTTnik I was always afraid of becoming a black hedgehog (Shadow?!) when trying to hit the oil sub, so I let Tails be the hero (mind you, this was the Sonic Gems Collection version and my first time playing through the Sonic games of old ^.^;b). Oh yeah, and KEEP OUR OCEANS CLEAN!

Eggman was the BP Oil Spill before it was cool. He's an anti-environtmental hipster! =O But it's not like Sonic's any better, "saving" these animals by letting them fall into a giant oil ocean? And then, why doesn't all the oil set fire when Eggman's mech explodes in the oil? New theory: Eggman died here, and all the other games past here are Tails' imagination as part of a drunken stupor.

Oh, and Slim, those purple things with spikes are actually trap rims sliding along the pipes (think of a washer on a screw or those rims in Jagged Jewels from DKCR). You're just seeing them from the side, so they don't look circular.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet or not, but if you transform into Super Sonic while you have the invincibility power-up, you keep the stars surrounding you as Super Sonic. Doesn't add to anything other than looking cool.

Oil Ocean Zone is really not one of my favorites... if mostly because of how confusing it gets your first time playing, and especially how hard it is to get a full 50 rings on your first playthrough.

Slim, I feel this zone's boss dies with no sense. There is oil everywhere. When Eggman's machine blows up, shouldn't the entire place blow up? Or is this VIDEO GAME LOGIC? Do you know about this?

Oil Ocean Zone was always my least favorite zone! Too much death, maziness (which is not a word :D), and crafty music! To each his own though. Metropolis Zone is cool though!

It is a cool boss, but you completely avoid all his attacks just by swimming under the platform. It's boring though, I usually just fight him from the platform.
