I cant believe how different the US seem to treat vascular birthmarks! In the UK they definately have a wait and see approach rather than aggressively treating the birthmark which can sometimes be frustrating. My daughter has a Port Wine Stain which will never completely disappear - she also has Sturge Weber Syndrome (birthmark is on her brain too) which causes seizures/epilepsy and she has to have regular checks to make sure she isnt developing glaucoma in her eyes...

We were informed that twins in Europe with similar conditions as Sydney's, who were placed on Propranolol for high bp, had significant improvements and reductions in the growth of their hemangiomas. Her cardiologist cleared her, and we were informed that if successful, she could avoid the surgery altogether. Within hours of her first dose, we saw improvement. She was able to wean off of steroids, and eventually stop taking propranolol with no further issues.

What list did you send it to? Did you send it to all the doctors you visited prior to finding the last doctor? Maybe her pediatrician could also send it out to their e-mail list. I will send it to Tenafly pediatrics as well. Amazing, great job, beautiful song.

Re: Propranolol- Its so important to note that Sydney had become steroid dependant. Every time we attempted to wean her off, the hemangiomas would quickly return to their state of rapid growth. She was therefore scheduled for surgical excision of the hemangioma growing behind her eyelid. As you will see in the video, her eyelid grew so large from the hemangioma, that its covering of her eye could have led to permanent blindness. (Continued below)

Your daughter is beautiful and this video brought tears to my eyes. My son has a hemangioma on his right side. His is ulcerated and horribly painful. I can barely hold my baby now. He is almost 6 months old and yesterday it started to spontaneously bleed. He is on the propranol treatment but although the size maybe better the ulceration is not. Was the laser helpful at all for you because that is our next course at this point,

in the UK the consultants didnt seem to know what to call Hallie's birthmark at first - they kept calling it a hermangioma and I got my hopes up (reading things on Google) and thought it would eventually disappear altogether but a PWS wont. You have a tough little gir and I'm so happy that everything worked out for you guys. I would like to ask a question. My daughter under went her first lazer treatment at seven months she has a large port wine stain that covers 90% of her right leg and I was wondering if your lil ones cleared up complety?

Please let me know what doctors told you about using pranolol. My four month old niece has this and the doctor has offer the medications but we are scared of the side effects. It's so good to know that she has always been a happy and beautiful girl! And the hemangioma's treatment was successful. I have one in my face, very tiny though, and doesn't really bothers me. But I think that the treatment is always a good choice.

Amazing! i'm glad she's doing so well. My daughter also has PHACE Syndrome, but she didn't require laser treatments. Her hemangiomas were mainly internal.
