There should really be some kind of story involving Zod and Faora and how Zod was like a father figure to her during Krypton's golden age. And that they both had a partnership similar to the dynamic of the one with Jean Reno and Natalie Portman in The Professional. Hell, the entire race is family to her but I think Zod stands out the most because of how closely they work together. They are soul mates along the lines of their ideals and loyalty to the Kryptonian cause.
