Male Nurse Statistics
A discussion board about Men needing to break the boundaries of nursing!!! What's your take why there aren't enough MALES in the nursing field??? Scope out ...
Mendoza, just got my acceptance letter from Antelope Valley C.C. in
Lancaster. The last graduating class had six guys out of 40. My class will
have three or four. So, are you in the LA area? Have a friend working UCLA
for $45 an hour. Most of the guys I know aren't making more then 50K and
Nursing jobs start at more then that. This for me will be a late start at
45 years of age but better late then never. Used to be a truck driver, no
advancement and no pay increases. I'll be watching..........
I don't think you should feel weird about being a male nurse. We live in an
ever changing and modernizing world, were perceptions of gender and the
roles men and women play are being challenged. Just think of the impact
your knowledge and male perspective will have on a largely female dominated
environment. I think women will actually welcome it, and eventually this
would form a positive and balanced work relationship to further support the
goal of nursing in providing optimal care.
Love what you have to say here about male nurses. I have a bachelors
degree, so I have all of my gen reqs out of the way. I want to go back to
school for nursing because I want to help people. I don't like to be bored
and feel that there is something new everyday when you're working in the
healthcare field. I have a degree in a different field by the way. Can you
assist me as to what I should do, where I should start?
llegar a Canada me he decidido en estudiar enfermeria y que me he
equivocado en pasar 5 anos estudiando derecho en venezuela.
Right now I am a male nursing assitant who almost has enough credits for a
one year degree in web development...I'm thinking about switching my major
to LPN/RN...was googleing to find out more...the nice thing about the long
term care facility that I work at is that they let you wear non offensive
t-shirts - I am also a volunteer firefighter and wear my duty shirts to
work...the pay and job availbility is very apealing.
Final semester of accelerated BSN. Yes sir, back on the grind for this male
nursing student!. Your videos are very inspiring sir, keep making them. I
wan't to see more former combat medics and navy corpsman go to nursing
school. I'm a combat medic and I like what I'm doing in nursing school. I
think these group future of male nurses are staying below the radar too
long. TAke the challenge.. be a male nurse!
i know ppl go into nursing because its rewarding to help others...that
sounds cool, but i really want to enter nursing because of the pay and
working three times a week is poppin!....my question tho , is being a male
rn really stressful to the point you would quit? let me know the honest
truth, because im really considering going to school to become a male
nurse...hope u reply with some good news.... 1
- & to those that feel that male nurses are faggots... I love women, so
personally, your opinion doesn't matter. I'm only 18 years of age but I'm
motivated. Not to mention, I've been boxing since I was 10. Who ever tends
to have the idea that us male nurses are faggots, I'm pretty sure you
wouldn't last one round with me. Ha! Just stating the facts, representing
for the male nurses.
Before Nursing school, I thought I'd take a lot of crap from people.
Instead in the past 3 years, only one person said that Iwas doing a woman's
job. But, overall it's been pretty good, we're always called upon to help
lift a pt or do any grunting work. 1 more year left! and I'm excited! I
love this profession and I don't reget it!
what it takes is someone who is so phoney and selfish, they will put a
PAYCHECK, and their own lives, before the safety and health of others, why
do I say that, you don't know, you will be told to lie about people's
swallowing and overdose them, infront of their loved ones, how is that
different than what the Nazi's did?
if you want to help people, tell them the truth, they you are being told,
to lie and say a patient is being given meds, while they are not being
given anything, and you are told, that there are too many people, the
elderly esp are just better off, being killed, the family doesn't
understand they are not OBJECTIVE.
My first day of nursing school they announced a scholarship...but only
available to women. WTF? When I found out about therapeutic touch, I
realized that there is something very wrong with nursing. I changed my
major and got out after the first semester. It takes a high tolerance for
the irrational to be a nurse.
Coming from a female nursing student: it's refreshing working with male
nurses, when your stuck in the midst of all the estrogen! Female nurses can
be catty, and full of drama, it's always nice having male nurses to lighten
up the mood. I personally like working with the murses more. :)
I am grateful to you for your enthusiasm and smarts, keep on straight
shooting!! I am seeking my position as a new nurse, USN/Ret Hospital
Corpsmen. My question to you is why is anyone calling me for an interview?
Is it possibly my age, 50? Should I state thinking about relocating?
I'm a male nursing student and I am the only one in my class. I love it!
You never give up what you want to do! I have a desire to help others and
love to give care to other people. Race, Sex, nor Religion will stand in
the way of me fulfilling my dream of being a nurse
Thanks for the inspiration sir. Your positive energy and passion for
nursing is greatly appreciated...way to to stay positive and brave in a
profession like this. I am finishing my prereq's this year, and watching
your videos every now and then really fires me up.. J
ah yes...Im lovin this channel. Starting Nursing school April 4th. good to
see a Brotha as in Masculine....No offense to anyone. But as an old
Marine...I cannot help it, but Im looking foward to the Journey. I will be
keepn up with u.
Im starting college next semester and will be going in as a BSN major. Then
to get an MBA then my CRNA to be making the big bucks lol and yes, im a
male. RN is one of the few lucrative jobs other than hard ass engineering
degrees
Hell yeah nurse Mendoza. Changed my major from physical therapy to rn and
you've given me so much motivation. And I haven't even started my program
yet! Still doing some pre reqs like anatomy and stuff. But keep it up man.
i appreciate diligent male nurses (RN). i actually applauded 2 male nurses
at work and made them aware of their value. Keep doing the job right my
friend! Woohoo! Dios te bendiga! :^)
