My gauge will drop to 0 when stopping and then pick back up when
accelerating. Needle also fluctuates in turns.
Also the gauge is showing 140 degrees and the actual temp inside the sensor
hole is 160.
+GlowShift Gauges Ha. Yes. Guess I'm keeping y'all busy. I got it figured out though. My ground was wonky and came loose. Tightened it up and all is well.
+Robert Landrum Hello, I believe me and have spoke a few times before regarding some other issues you are having. For an issue like this, testing the sensor's signal is recommend. This requires a multimeter, do you have access to one? Thanks.
+Sam Han Thanks for letting us know about your issue. I recommend pulling the sensor ground off the current location and put it to a new location. Also, make sure it has a separate grounding location from the tachometer gauge. Let me know if this helps!
MOEN posi-temp part # 1222 cartridge replacement
it's stuck beacuse the installing soldered the valve body without taking the extra minute to remove the rubber & plastic cartridge. Now its melted in place, lets get ...
This video is probs the best one I've seen! You're freaking hilarious. And
props for the persistence. That one tough MF.
I noticed that the black rubber things were aligned with the pipes. So what
if they are not aligned with them? I'm asking because I suspect that the
last time I replaced the moen cartridge I think they were not aligned.
+wilson48103 glad that worked out, thanks for watching my video, thanks for your note, little things like that keep me motivted.check out my main channel: The Handyman Zone and hit that subscribe button would really appreciate the support :)//www.youtube.com/user/roslynnydino pinch
Dino, you are the MOEN faucet HOUND ! You ran that stubborn cartridge to
ground.
My situation was similar to yours except the shaft was not broken off as in
your case. However the fact that the rubber seals get stuck inside the
valve body ports and hold the cartridge in is the serious problem that
makes getting these things out rather iffy (prone to break something in the
process). Having the shaft to pull on is just barely helpful.
I started with use of one of the black plastic cartridge pullers bought on
eBay (
//www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_from=R40&_nkw=moen+cartridge+puller&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1).
But that tool only got the cartridge started out of the valve body by about
1/3 inch ... and I had to jigger that setup with a steel washer and a large
socket to make it work that well.
I found that continually rotating the cartridge while pulling with
adjustable pliers (ChannelLock type) was the technique that led to
success. It was touch and go getting the cartridge out.
The final kick in the pants about the MOEN 1222 is that the replacement
cartridge costs on the order of $35 ... considerably more than the 1225
cartridge (~$15).
I'm swearing off MOEN valves for the foreseeable future. I'll try some
other brands in hopes that there's one that has a better - more serviceable
design.
Thanks again for the excellent "battle of MOEN cartridge" video !
hey thx the reply, if you call moen customer service they will warranty the cartridge under the lifetime warranty. 800-289-6636
Replace stuck Moen Posi-Temp Shower Cartridge Model #1222
In this how to video Contractor John shows you how to replace a Moen Tub Shower cartridge. Sometimes things do not go smoothly and in this step by step ...
+carl cappy Carl, Thanks for watching the video and taking time to comment. You are absolutely correct, if lubricant comes with the cartridge/part you should use it. Please note you should only use food grade lubricant on any plumbing part/s. Merry Christmas!
+Michael Loi Moen somtimes sells the 1222 in the retail blister display packaging & the 1222B in the supposedly BULK 6 per box version. Which is baloney as I used to work for a plbg wholesaler & we bought both types in 12 count purchases. We sold both packages in the $42.00 trade price range which was a 15% profit ($35.70 distributor cost). Oh, wholesaler got that volume 30% rebate at the end of the year. So technically most wholesalers paid $24.99 for the posi temp cartridge. P.S. Moen will send any homeowner a replacement part for free as a lifetime warranty part. You just have to call their 800-BUY-MOEN and ask for it. Most people don't want to wait so they pay their plumber the high price to change it.
Richard,Doesn't really matter as long as the puller is the correct one for the particular cartridge you are pulling out.Checkout my new book The Dimension Bible to help with all your home projects. //DimensionBible.comContractor John
