"It's important to have something I can do REALLY quickly"
I love sous-vide as much as the other but Sous-vide is not quick lol It
takes like 30 minutes to cook a steak. I mean yea it comes out perfect but
it aint quick
+Kindred1a1 I think they were talking more about the active time spent. When cooking a steak traditionally, you usually have to supervise the meat to prevent under or overcooking. With sous-vide, you can take a nap while it cooks.
I'm sorry, but cooking a steak in this is honestly retarded - you got to
both sous-vide and then sear it with a pan or blow torch. How is this
easier than cooking an awesomely seared steak 2 minutes on each side and
basing it with butter? 4 minutes cook time compared to what, 40 minutes in
the bag (or maybe longer? don't mind me, never tried this, and probably
never going to be bothered to). Maybe the taste is difference, but "Saving
Time" is certainly not the right excuse.
+justyn france Thanks. I though I'm the only one who lives outside the box. People find me wasting my time in cooking. This is my hobby and I love finding new things and techniques.
+Weijie Mak this is why you're not a chef or will never be good at cooking anything , you're to small minded with no clue as to why its one of the best ways you can precook you're food items, if you have the time to bring you're steak to room temp then good for you , most don't , but id say you just through in a pan straight from the fridge like a donkey..... also 2mins on each side is for a 250g steak, i'd hate to see what would happen if you got a 400-600g steak , THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX YOU LIVE IN MAN , you might be surprised
+Gabriele Pastore Wow! Thanks for providing a link :) this article addresses my concerns exactly. But I also recommend not skipping the commentary sections... as the question remains open.
I don't know where to go with this sous vide. I like how all the desired
textures can be obtained by this, on the first eye, not really difficult
looking technique. Just know your mathemathics and have a stopwatch at all
times i guess But in modern days, where freshness, authenticity and
sustainability are important values for 'eaters', how could this survive
further than the 'toddler mom' or other people that don't like wasting time
on cooking? And for all the plastic....where is that going when it's not
needed anymore?
+Kont Aap this method has been in professional kitchens for nearly 30 years , what a re you talking about , just passed the toddler's room loll., it was invented by a French chef
