Do you ever perform these blocks on patients while they are under general anesthesia? Another youtube video on this topic (shot in the UK) advocates this practice. I can't see that you would be missing paresthesias, and I would think that if you are so intimate with the pleura you certainly don't want the patient to make any sudden movements. Your thoughts?

+damont1492 You can do this block under GA and in fact we do for our thoracotomy cases.  We place the catheter at the end of the case while the patient is still in the lateral position and the chest tube is in place.

My daughter had a total colectomy and has now been in the hospital for 18 days with an intestinal blockage. They said the small intestine has flipped have you ever heard of such a thing? they went back in and now she has a gas blockage ? any advice. herc
