 John you are starting to sound like one of those dullards who are trying to tell the world that Islam is a religion of peace. There is one very true  point you mentioned and that is Christianity and Freemasonry are not compatible.Christianity is unique, in it has a savior and a salvation plan from a God who LOVES us,no man made religion can offer us that,add to that Christianity, through the Abrahamic faith gives us mankind's complete linage from the first man, Adam,the bible even described the earth as being round in Isaiah 40-22.I don't understand what you mean by ''Christian fundamentalism'' one is either a Christian or a hypocrite.Freemasonry is a religion for proud men, a system devised from myriads of other religious systems that have all failed mankind in the past,and is doomed for failure again.

+elysian95 Friend, let me save you some typing. Jesus Christ is never mentioned in a Craft Lodge. That's not to say that Freemasons deny Christianity. We've never said we support it either. That's to say that the Truth in any of the world religions is not a matter that we explore. Freemasonry focusses on what the world religions have in common, and uses that as a means of bringing men together in peace. I can appreciate how trembling bigots from the Christian Right would have a problem with that, so there's no need to convince me. Christianity and Freemasonry are not compatible, assuming of course that your idea of Christianity is the kind of intolerant bigotry that is convinced "everyone who isn't one of us is going to burn in hell". Freemasonry promises no salvation; anyone who claims it does is either an oaf or a liar. And before you start, the 'Light' of Freemasonry is merely Darkness Visible. By that we mean that no mortal, including the Freemasons, has all the answers. We of course, are willing to admit it. Stands us in sharp contrast to a lot of the spiritual charlatans out there, wouldn't you say? As for those 'good people' you've referenced, I know nothing about them, except that they did not possess the spiritual mettle or the intellectual capacity to comprehend the true meaning of Freemasonry. I've certainly heard the old rant (always from people who have the arrogance to think they know our Order better than us) that the higher numbered degrees control everything, and that the Freemasons in the Blue Lodge degrees usually don't even know that the higher numbered degrees exist. Poppycock. I'm a 32nd degree Freemason, active in the Craft, York Rite and A&ASR on two continents. And before you start, yes, I'm well aware of the 33rd Degree. Several of my close friends and my own father hold that honorary degree. The higher numbered degrees have no power over the lower numbered degrees; Freemasonry simply isn't structured that way (don't take my word for it; ask around). The movement across the degrees is more lateral than vertical. Each places a sharper emphasis on a particular aspect of the symbolism.As for the 'God is Satan' routine, I've heard that many times. I have no intention in getting into details of the ritual with you; frankly, it's none of your business. But I will endeavour to appeal to simple logic. Consider this. All through the ceremonies of the Craft Degrees, a Freemason is taught the parts of the symbolism that represent the various moral virtues and modes of honourable behaviour. And then, at some point in the degrees, this same Freemason is told "oh, by the way, this isn't about honour and virtue. You're worshipping the Prince of Darkness now". And this Freemason says "really? I've heard all the fantasies over the course of the last 20 years; that Freemasons worship Satan, that we murder our own members, that we control the banking industry, blah blah blah. These are the same baseless criticisms made by the Nazis in the 1920s and 30s; every Freemason is mindful of what happened next. These criticisms appear to have morphed into 'fact' in the minds of many people, and appear to have replaced critical thinking. I only ask that people produce a little evidence for their criticisms, and that if they want to know the truth about the Freemasons, they exercise some moral courage, and sit down with a Freemason and have a conversation.
