Remove YT-inserted errant spaces from links below** I have been asked this question two times this week, and I figured if I was getting it from multiple sources ...
Yeah, I don't like factory farms any more than the next person. The humane
treatment is important for any resource you are given, but also important
is that those other items just taste better. We were never this inundated
in our history with refined grains, sugars, in our diet. As for Vegan
truth, I think actions speak for themselves, and the more the speak
vitriolic speech the more I wonder about the MIT study and "Atkins anger"
might not be targeted at the wrong group. Thanks for watching!
I would simply encourage you to keep your mind open as your taste buds
shift their preferences. I started in the same boat. I barely ever ate
vegetables, and pretty much the only one I ate was corn and potatoes. I am
not eating all kinds of vegetables and appreciate them a whole more than
ever before. I think the elimination of all the sugar in my diet reawoke
tastes buds that had been deadened. Do the best you can, and try some of
the low carb conversion recipes-like fauxtatoes or faux rice.
That is why in the video description I personally recommend not soy
protein. There are lots of other proteins especially in eggs, nuts, dairy.
I am still borderline with what is fine and what is not re: soy; whether or
not that is none (including fermented soy sauce) or just excluding soy
cheese and soy protein. As for not recommending Atkins; I am of the opinion
that restricting or regulating one's carbs has no deleterious effects as
prescribed in Atkins. The alternative is too much refined.
Hi Kent, I have been back on Atkins for almost two months now and I have
lost 27 pounds so far. I absolutely love your recipe segments and hope to
see a lot more in the future. I make the mock danish a lot upon request
from family members(even though I can't seem to get mine to look like
yours). I also love the cauliflower bisque. I have a spaghetti squash so I
can soon try the chicken alfredo. I hit a stall at 23 pounds lost and the
stall lasted about 2 weeks, but its going down again.
Congrats that is fantastic progress in 2 months. That is a significant
amount of fat tissue lost or burned up. I hope to have another recipe video
next week sometime as my work load settles down, but thanks for
encouragement. They are sometimes stressful to make -- ask my wife about
the exploding mousse from last time. I hope you like the Alfredo recipe --
the only caution with that is letting the sauce get too thick... If it does
add a little cream/water mixture to the dish.
2007 I lost 35 lbs in 5 weeks. Atkins, Running every day, diet pill, not
eating much on the Atkins plan. Unsafe the way I went about it I admit.
2011 I'm trying it again, but I'm not going as extreme. And in 2 weeks I've
only lost 6-9 pounds. In between those years I've tried several times but
crashed. Is it possible for the body to build a tolerance to Atkins and
even hold on. Like the body is saying, "NOT THIS TIME!" and holding on to
the fat harder?
oooh, I guess Vegan truth doesn;t understand that man was made to eat meat.
Meat fish nuts fruit and any edible greens that were available. I can
understand having a problem with how meat is butchered and produced,
because I do. But any primitive people on this planet are meat eaters ( or
bugs or what they can hunt down) this is how we work. Atkins obviously
saved your life on many levels and I appreciate your vlogs and info!-Zoe
Think nothing of it. The question is obviously a valid one, and just
because certain community members take it step beyond rational, it doesn't
make it any more or less valid a way of eating. I actually find it funny
that vegan would have a problem eating like a vegan with more fat in their
diet. Maybe this particular was just as much anti-fat as anti-meat. Who
knows?
Alright it is apparent that at least with some vegans you can't have a
rational discussion with them. Have fun not eating meat and thereby
lowering my costs... I have no idea why vegans are affronted by my way of
eating and have no respect for it when all I have done is respect all ways
of eating. So welcome to my block file, and have a nice day.
Just like vegans are known to have bone loss, no muscle tone, and impotent
due to lack of meat in their diet. Intelligent people do their own
research, look past the myths and popular misconceptions, and discover the
truth for themselves. I would encourage you to do the same. You could even
watch my misconception series as a good starting point.
You can do a kb diet without any use of meats, it'll be harder mind you.
But the only thing you can't do on a kb diet is consume carbs. The only
thing you need on ketogenic diets is a lack of insulin. The body will make
its own glucose by glucogenosis. You can even be in ketosis while having a
high carb count with use of prohoromones and such. .
It's soy protein that's the problem. Soy sauce and other forms of fermented
soy are okay in moderation. Most people don't chup down bottles of soy
sauce. ;) I have no beef with Atkins at all. I learned a ton on the diet
and lost 65 pounds that I have managed to keep off. I still count my carbs
and look for lower carb veggies and such. :)
@bowulf I lost 6-7 pounds first week of induction. But I was running every
day, and working out in my brazilian jiu jitsu class. However a lot of that
weight I also attribute to losing past food weight through.. bathroom
breaks, and also losing water weight. Because the next week I stalled big
time.
@bowulf I was going for 35 lbs in 5 weeks. I did that in 2007. But I'm 4
years older now, and I guess age plays a factor in it too? Somebody told me
that the body can become conditioned to Atkins. Since 2007 I've tried the
diet several other times and crashed. Maybe I got my body used to it?
The author of those websites is associated with PCRM and PETA. Two groups
who advocate eating of no meat on philosophical reasons. I have been on
this diet for 5 years -- what dangers should I be wary of? Because the last
5 years of annual physicals and blood workups could not be better.
@hootyhaha Check out my golden shot theory video posted here on Youtube,
but let me remind you that 6-9 pounds depending on the amount you need to
lose could be fantastic. Most people are geared to lose typically 5-10% of
their weight to lose on Induction. How much do you have to lose?
Absolutely correct, that's why I can never imagine how people say low carb
is boring or they can live with the too strict diet. We've been so
indoctrinated to accept grains, HFCS, corn starch, dextrose in all our
foods that living outside that seems impossible. Thanks for watching!
Just to add - most people who do veggie Atkins are going to make soy
protein a main source of protein and this should be avoided at all costs.
Low-carb dairy and eggs is all you are left with then. If a veggie can bend
to include fish they are better off and have lots more choices.
You are right there to each is own. But I enjoy the eggs, bacon, cheese,
and cream(limited). I get to use, keeps the monster in my stomach from
growling. I do not want to screw up the body's balance of sugar that's how
you lose hands and stuff. Ignorance chews up my cashews,,,
3-5 days typically... The mental aspect of Induction Flu can hit some
people harder than the physical aspect. It took me about 2-3 weeks to be
less irritable but then I again I "lost" a lot of comfort foods and my
former way of eating. It was very much worth it though.
Yep, I will never discount someone else's choice for a more difficult row
to hoe, but the result is the same. They can be as successful as we
meat-eaters are. It just goes to prove how wrong the media gets us with
their mischaracterization of the Diet.
@hootyhaha Could be less likely to dump the water as quickly or that the
more capable to burn fat for fuel, and less likely to simply burn the
glycogen. It isn't necessarily less likely to loose, but just more quickly
to get acclimated to burn the fat.
Are you dense? Did you not get the sarcasm? I was making a point and
pointing out myths exist for both ways of eating, and that you of all
people should be interested in seeking the truth. Sheesh, take your affront
and defensiveness somewhere else.

I have never eaten ground chicken , but I wanna make a stir fry with
chicken breast tonight is there any tips you can give me to make it tasty!!
I'm on a diet where I have to follow my cal intake pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee and
thanks!!!
+ashley duke The best way to add taste to your chicken, meat, fish, etc. without adding calories is with dry spices (salt, pepper, garlic, herb, etc.) you can also add fresh ginger and garlic to add flavor. Another nice low calorie side with your lean meats is mushrooms and onions pan fried with PAM spray.
Interesting I'm here in BC and we have lots of natural meat butchers and found out my body doesn't react good when I eat regular meat which sucks for me cause grassfed meat bus so expensive here but it's actually worth it and taste better
