I'm a vegan and I don't actively eat honey or avoid it. If it happens to be
in a product I'm eating I don't particularly care. I did watch a video on
honey production and it does seem kinda messed up but the problem is that
all fruits are really the products of bees. We can't have commercial
production of many plants without utilizing bees for pollenation. The use
of these animals is required at this point, until we come up with a better
way at least.
Veganism is kind of a contradiction because, even though purists don't eat honey, they are still exploited/manipulated to help make our food grow in more quantity. I also read that, if it wasn't for humans, the honey bee would have been extinct because we cultivated them/saved them.
I'm a vegan/beegan myself dude! You know what? I might just start using beegan as a title! It would take the purists by surprise because it is a term they use to try and belittle us. Enough people did that or stopped with the terms all together they would just give up with it. Btw man raw honey with banana, cacao nibs and fresh home made almond milk makes a great raw smoothie. Not 100% raw myself but I love my salads and smoothies x3

Why the heck don't vegans eat honey?
Honey and insect products such as colorants are taboo in the ethical vegans lifestyle and diet. Yet ethically harvested honey, from bees which are raised on ...
Part 2: Plus, there r some cereals that r full of artificial flavours that
can b considered vegan, and a few healthy granola-y ones w/ honey as a
sweetener. Don't know about you, but I'd take the healthier one rather than
go without and be satisfied being a strict veg. any day. Bees live a more
natural life than most other animals regardless and GREAT BEEKEEPERS leave
enough HONEY for their bees to consume throughout winter. A perfect
harmony. SUPPORT THOSE LOCAL HONEY BEEKEEPERS, NOT BILLY BEE!
I always thought that bees make honey during the winter and they consume
their honey during the winter when they are all huddled together in the
hive to keep warm. Surely by taking away this honey, we leave them with
less food. They may survive... (but so do Starving Africans survive, kind
of). I am sure they would appreciate to eat the food they worked so hard to
make. ALSO: The way you pronounce Vegan is like that planet from the Movie
Contact (with Jodie Foster) Planet Vega :) Sounds nice
1) Vegan is pronounced with a long "E" Vee-gan. 2) Who cares about
"organic, raw, all of the properties remaining" that doesn't make something
vegan. 3) I suggest you educate yourself on how bees are treated. 4) As
vegans we don't classify beings, as animals, insects, etc. in order to
determine whether or not we should use them to benefit us financially or
simply for taste. They have complex nervous systems and are able to feel
pain. 5) You seem to have some knowledge, why aren't you vegan?
Potato PotAto...I am all for ethical treatment...Have you been to an
organic apiary? Have you been to a farm? So nobody kills insects to grow
your veggies? Have you ever grown a vegetable? I'm not Vee-gan because I
happened to be born an omnivore, but I support the ethical treatment of all
creatures, It's not why they die, it's how they had to live beforehand. So
nothing you wear, use or eat has ever contributed to the death of another
creature?...Think about that. :)
Part 1: I second that. Most people object the practice of large apiary
companies like Billy Bee honey, where its common 2 starve bees and sub
their food supply w/ sugar water. Force them to live in metal artificial
comb boxes or torch their hives come winter. Mind you, whether metal box or
hive, they are still the same bees that harvest our store's unlabeled GMO
veggies and fruits. So most of us don't have a choice where are food comes
from, much like the bees.
Who gives a shit how bees are treated there insects. Do u avoid every ant
in your way? When u step on a bug do u feel remorse or sorrow? If so then u
are the most sensitive person I know. I can understand the whole "not
eating meat" because animals are sentient, but insects? Really!? You do
know that insects don't actually have brains right?
Yes commercial honey producers often "rape" the honey from the bees feeding
them white sugar for the winter...this has to produce weaker bees. However,
in general bees over produce honey so if ethically harvested I feel that
honey is a safe choice...Check out my vegan vs paleo article, you may enjoy
it :)
Why not harvest the invading bugs and slugs and stuff and (boil and cook
the slugs) abd cook them? I mean, you use pesticides or insecticides, and
you eat more stuff!
... But do this only if you feel that you stuff are just being way too
eaten. (and I doubt the bugs will be big enough)
Oh and since we are speaking of knowledge Va-gan is often used by vegans
and was apparently the original way of pronouncing the word correctly, it
is still pronounced several ways: merriam-webster dictionary (vegan)
\ˈvē-gən also ˈvā- also ˈve-jən or -ˌjan\
