Explains and demonstrates the dental assistant's role during an actual periodontal surgical procedure. Orig. air date: APR 23 73 This is part of the Open.
Put me out!!!!!!
I hate needles, hate those horrible sounds, and hate choking on all that
stuff......I need to easily breathe so
no way do I want to hear any of that, especially if needing periodontal
surgery of all quadrants and multiple teeth extractions......Put me out.
Use local anesthesia with sedation, and I would want to see all dental
instruments removed from their sterile packaging before anyone touches my
mouth, so I know they are new and sterile.
Also need to see sterile operating environment and sterile gloves on
everyone as well as proper face coverings.
Wow,,,as a dental assistant myself, I could make several comments about
this, but I guess things have changed over the past 30 years or so..no
mask? no gloves for the assistant?? hmmm, kinda gross now that i look at
it...
Brilliant video for its day (1973). Yes that is how we did it back then. I
am still working today and have seen all the changes.Oh am I so glad where
we are at today.
How is it she pulls his gloves up over his sleeves for sterile purposes and
she's not wearing gloves or a mask while handing the periodontist the
instruments!
Wuh?! No mask on the doc OR assistant?! This is NOT the way to do surgery,
people! And wear ARE the gloves on that assistant?! What year was this
filmed? 1961?!?
Dentist Assistant Role Play ASMR w Soft Spoken Southern Sweetie
She's back! and she's here to clean your teeth :) Relax while your teeth are cleaned and flossed. Next up, I think I'll follow this with a dentist role play. What do ...
I watched a couple of your other job and career documentaries. I think one
of them you were a massage therapist? And in another one you were a make-up
artist, too. I'm just wondering how many jobs you have right now. Do you go
in and out of jobs a lot? Lol. Anyways, I also see you bring up "ASMR", I
don't know how to exactly spell it. What is that? Lol. Sorry if I'm asking
a lot of stupid questions. And I'm also wondering why you post so many er
career documentaries?
Thank you so much!!! This video is awesome, specially the part where you're
tapping the teeth =) I have a huge dental-phobia, so it would be great if
you'd make a dentist role-play, and even with the root canal-treatment!
Maybe I wouldn't be so afraid if I could imagine that you were my dentist!
Another great vid. So happy you brought the "Southern Sweetie" back.
Perfect tone in her voice. (The county fair is my personal fave asmr video)
Thanx Again doll. Always thought you had a wonderful smile. Now I know why.
Good brushing habits!
Are these documentaries supposed to demonstrate various careers? Or are
they supposed to be like your job portfolio? You bring up ASMR A ALOT, I'm
wondering what that is? Is that an acronym? They're interesting videos
though.
Fantastic video. I would love for you to be my dental assistant. I really
like your voice it is so calming and soothing. Have you ever made hypnosis
videos? Thanks a lot for posting this video Natalie.
Mercury can cause harmful effects yes, Amalgam is not mercury and therefore
does not cause all of these symptoms you are all saying. Certainly not
periodontal disease, that is caused by poor oral hygiene by not brushing
correctly or flossing! As far as I know no one has ever died from having an
amalgam filling or gotten seriously ill, the only time you are exposed to a
small dose of mercury from the amalgam is when placing the filling or when
removing it and even that isn't big enough to cause
@MercuryFreeDentistry If amalgam fillings were TRULY as bad as some
skeptics claim, they wouldn't be used in any practice at all. Amalgam would
not be allowed to be manufactured and suppliers wouldn't sell it. Fact is,
they still do. (Obviously) Amalgam does contain mercury, yes, BUT if you
know anything about chemistry you would understand that once these
substances come together to form the amalgam, the mercury atoms cannot
simply come apart to "leak" into the oral cavity.
If you don't see them wash their hands it does NOT count in my book...Its
like when you go to the dentist or doctor for that matter...You always want
to see the doctor or dental assistant wash their hands before they put on
their gloves you don't know where their hands have been or who or what they
were touching before they entered your room!!!.. I'm a dental assistant and
I always do .. because its hygienic and because we are taught to...
The diff b/w bound and unbound chemicals can be illustrated by an analogy.
Elemental hydrogen is an explosive gas. Elemental oxygen is a gas that
supports combustion. When combined, however, they form water, which has
neither of these effects. The types of chemical bonds in water and amalgam
differ, but saying that amalgam will poison you is just as wrong as saying
that drinking water will make you explode and burst into flames.
First - The air date of the video is right below in the description , so
stop guessing. Second - I always wear glovesq but my father who`s also a
dentist seldom does he`s like old school (here in Bulgaria we don`t have a
law/regulations that say it`s mandatory to wear gloves fo simple dental
procedures) Third - the assistant is skilled and hot I would hire her right
away :)

@LCBam @LCBam dont be fooled by this man spreading false information
amalgam is 50% mercury any more and it would be more mercury than anything
else, mercury penetrates and poisons all living cells, ALL living cells,
there is no amount of mercury small enough to not poison living cells, so
even in that tiny bit of exposure you are still being terribly terribly
poisoned.
@MercuryFreeDentistry But you aren't informing people of the truth. You are
correct in saying that MERCURY can cause serious side effects, but AMALGAM
is not mercury. It is a compound and in its compounded form, cannot be
altered. So, silver fillings do NOT cause memory loss, mood swings, or
psychological problems. You really need to stop "Orson Welles-ing" people.
True. But this is a training video. The people who are watching this
already know that they have to wash their hands, that's pretty much the
very first thing you learn in dental/hygienist school. So why spend a whole
segment on them washing their hands? And thankfully, it's old so all that
stuff is obsolete anyway.
The procedure n techniques are quite the same.. N the infection control is
improved in the modern practice... About the amalgam, it is true that
mercury is used in amalgam, but in a small amount that can't cause
poisoning( as far as i know).
wow.... its scary to see that they did not use gloves to make this film.
They should of at least washed their hands , and stress about cleanliness ,
not that that would protect them from infectious
bacteria/germs/organisms....
of course they did ! thats all anyone says about these
probably-forty-year-videos "Ooh , no gloves , no gloves !" just because
they dont wear gloves doesnt mean theyve walked straight from the toilet
into the surgery ! .
(the applicable federal law falls under the Occupational Health & Safety
Administration's "Bloodborne Pathogen Standard", which was enacted in March
1992). so after that dentists started to wear gloves
He is actually correct. Before trituration of the amalgam capsule it is
approximately 50% mercury. After condensation and burnishing the mixture
the restoration should contain about 30% mercury.
This video was made in the 1970's or early 80's, before OSHA. I remember as
a child going to the dentist to get fillings in my mouth and no one had on
gloves. Thank GOD times have changed.
@thedarkone123123 normally they dont apply gloves in textbooks and
education videos so that u can see their fingers closely and see how they
manipulate and deal with instruments, got it?
im in dental assisting school and my teachers taught us that amalgam is
mostly mercury.. just sayin... cuz i missed that on the quiz thinking there
was no way it was mostly mercury...
So......this is really at a dental office and that guy had alot of pacience
w/the assistant when she didnt know her tools....I doubt it's still like
this or that their that friendly.
I love how everyone is tripping out about PPE, you guys obviously are
fucking RETARDED. This video is back in the 70's they didnt use anything to
protect you or the patient.
@iabsoriw433 because amalgam is proven effective; it is much longer lasting
than composite, doesn't shrink (like composite) and is more cost-effective
for the patient.
Old school!!!! Lmao gloves lol! 4 handed dentistry means one lazy ass
dentist. If that was my dentist I'd tell him to quit bein a lazy ass
mother!!!!! Hah
People you can tell this video was made late 70's early 80's. There were no
laws like now about PPE'S it was Ok to not wear gloves or masks.
