This lesson is designed to help the speaker affect a convincing New York accent, using vowel and consonant substitutions as applied to a text. The Long O ...
This is a marvelous channel. This may sound wrong, but I'm actually kind of
glad your channel doesn't attract many viewers (for some inexplicable
reason... this video is better than most of the popular accent videos
combined) because I feel like I've discovered a little gem in a cave full
of crap.
Major Difference Living in New York Vs Los Angeles
New York vs. Los Angeles! I'm asked a lot about the differences these two cities have to offer since I've lived in both cities now. When it comes to transportation, ...
I lived in LA and New York their both easy places to live and my parents
have a descent job so rent was not a problem. I currently live in Houston
wich is were I was born forget new York its all about H-TOWN and LA
motherfuckers.
I'm from cali. I ended up in massachutes it's cold no people out no kids
out I feel alone cuz no one is out. I miss cali I'm close to NY I would
like to see it but prob won't I love cali cuz it's warm people everywhere
and we can Rome everywhere lots to do places to go rent a little expensive
but maybe not as NY not sure dirty UT not really Disney land beaches
mountains close to desert I love la
+ReturnoftheBrotha wow never heard that before- that you don't need money to have fun in NYC. ALways thought it's the most expensive city and that there's nothing fun to do there free. GTK, thanks
+Madhops 107I have never been there before, but like someone else wrote (they said they were there), it does not seem like a true city. I knew someone who did go there and she said she liked it better than NYC< but that could be due to it being a new environment.Without knowing much about LA on the ground, it looks like you need money to enjoy yourself out there. In NYC, you only need money if you are dumb enough to buy overpriced items in Times Square!
+Madhops 107There is no other major city (I guess - with sports teams) near Boston. NYC can travel a distance and eventually reach Philly. From there, Baltimore, DC and then the south. Boston is kind of isolated from the major happenings in the northeast due to it's distance. CA is so big, it is not shocking with L.A.'s assumed isolation, yet even in the L.A. area, there are other, smaller cities that would be major cities if they were located some place else, like Long Beach. So L.A. does have other spots around it. Boston has it's metro are and the other MA spots, but it is all out there. The drive from a NYC/CT to Boston is too great to take for leisure. However, I always see many MA plates here in this Tri-state area, and I always wonder what part of MA did they come from and how long of a drive it was...
+ReturnoftheBrotha what do u mean by isolated? I mean, yeah Boston's far away from other parts of the world. But isn't every other city, relatively speaking? Like isn't NYC pretty isolated from other happening places? Like I know NYC is close to Jersey, but then one could make the argument that hey Boston's close to Providence. Who's to say Jersey is a more happening place than Providence? And LA's isolated in and of itself, considering it's urban sprawl, meaning wherever ur at within Los Angeles, you're pretty isolated from other parts of the city because u have to drive so far to get to another happening place within the city. So WHAT R U TALKING ABOUT WHEN YOU SAY BOSTON IS ISOLATED?
+Madhops 107Yeah - nigga, but you are the one trying to claim to be so close when you are so far away. Boston is more or less isolated. Your teams need rivalries with ours (and Lakers) in order to get press.
+ReturnoftheBrotha Nigga pls we're close to London, Ireland, Portugal. We got flavor and sex appeal. And we got the SOX baby red and blue for life!!!. You Yankess are all corrupt w/ no morals, that's why ur city is so dirty
+Madhops 107Stop jockin NYC. You are not in this region and your capital is Boston. You people are arrogant about your sports teams, but clearly feeling small about your far away, tiny city, which is why your sports victories are the only satisfaction you get.
+ReturnoftheBrotha yo bro, MA is mad close to NYC. ANyone who's from the area knows this already. (R u from the boonies or somewhere in the midwest? Stop acting like u know the city POSER!). And we all know NY just wants to be like Beantown, America's number one city baby ;) Boston is number one in sports, entertainment, women, architecture, everything except smelling like shit and harboring huge rats, that's where NY succeeds.
+Madhops 107MA is not in this NYC region and your city of Boston is supposed to be what you people worship, so MA and PA need to stop acting like because you border states that are in the NYC region, that it puts you here by proxy. You have your region, Philly has it's region, and this is NYC's region. If you are close by, then I guess Baltimore is close by. If they are close by, then since DC is near Baltimore, then it too must be close by. Since VA is near DC, then it too must be close by. Since Charlotte is on the horizon, they too must be close by. Would it ever end? There is a reason you usually do not see MA concerning things around NYC or the northeast - because MA and especially Boston, are too far away to travel to and there is nothing else besides Boston to be concerned with. Besides, this was not about Boston or Philly, or Chicago, this was about NYC or L.A. All other areas always want to get involved and not be left out, then they want to find and make up associations with these cities, when none exists.
+Madhops 107I live in this Tri-state area (which does not include MA or PA) and it is NOT close. Counties in the state of NY are not even close to the city, so hows is MA supposed to be close? You people from other areas look at maps and think things are close, with no real world experience.
+Madhops 107There is no 'kinda' clown. MA is no where near NYC, you have to do a lot of driving. You are clearly a clown from some other country in Africa or some place.
I love Little Mix, this was hilarious! I'm American and I hate when other
Americans get all butthurt in videos like this when people don't imitate
our accents "correctly", if they're not from our country of course it's not
gonna be perfect, just enjoy the video! :)
+MRROBBIEWATTS They went to bars, got drunk, then House eventually assisted Wilson's suicide when the cancer got to much for him to handle. Then House probably killed himself as well.
Each part of America (even each part of a given state) speaks differently.
However, here in NE Ohio we have the lack of an accent. lol! My British
hubby has me order when we go anywhere because many cannot understand him,
but most still want to just listen to his wonderful accent. Even after 15
yrs he still says, "Wuata" and not "Wa-der." LOL!
+Johnny Skinwalker   House was on in the US for eight years, and Hugh Laurie was on talk shows and whatnot constantly during that time speaking in his actual English accent. At first, I agree, people didn't know. But by now most people who watched House--and that is a LOT of people--knows.
I am American and I loved House. I have to admit that I was super shocked
when I saw him speaking with a British accent. His American accent is
absolutely flawless. I don't exactly know how hard it is to do an American
accent since it's the one I've had my entire life. But he does it so damn
good.
+OldsXCool british actors do other accents very well...michael caine , rowan atkinson, peter sellers, are some good examples. its all their professionalism. yes, they also have speech training...Its not easy as michael caine said but they go get it. brilliant.
I'm chilean, and for me the worst accent in the world is the spanish (from
spain of course (the spanish (from spain) name for beans is jews, to be
accurate female jew...strange at least.)). It's weird, maybe the americans
think like that about the british accent...you know, it's a weird accent
just because it's british.
+alexos8741 But americans are known for loving british accents. There's even stadistics about that. (It seems that they don't understand it really well, though.) While us latin american people generally hate the spanish accent and... well, y'know, we are always fighting in those videos about the latin and european spanish dubs. And I don't know about you, but I have trouble understanding the spanish accent sometimes (I'm peruvian.). Besides between latin american accents there are also some differences. Chilean accent is always stereotipically hard to understand while some foreigners always tell us that we speak with kind of a sing-song voice.
+thepezfeo Exactly, but at least French is more consequent than english, because as you say they don't pronounce the last letters but they do this most of the time, but in english a half of the time they do and the other half they don't or sometimes they pronounce different letters from the ones written, it's a mess!
+Christopher Poblete One of the things I like most about Spanish is the fact that the spelling matches the spoken word. English has a large number of words where the spelling isn't anything like the spoken word. I think learning English would be faster and easier if the word spelling was reformed so the spelling would match the spoken word. French would probably benefit from something similar, because they don't pronounce the last few letters in Many of their words. One example is the French town "Saint Denis", which they pronounce "Son Den-é".
+thepezfeo (I'm Chilean too) Brazilians do have trouble understanding the Portuguese accent but not so the other way around because the Brazilian accent is more "international", the same happens with American and British english. As for the spanish thing it's a different story, Spanish it's a more "homogeneous" language regarding the sound.
+alexos8741 Are there any regions that you cannot understand the local Spanish accent? I ask because I've heard that people from Portugal and Brazil speak Portuguese so differently they have trouble understanding each other. (They also have to add "subtitles" to TV and Movies for each other).
Mark Wahlberg & Conan Talk Boston Sports
Mark Wahlberg is a true Bostonian, even when it comes to pee-wee basketball.
Guys this is what happens when you support your team in sickness and in
health, boston teams really struggled in the 90's but the arenas were still
always sold out, we love our sports no matter what.
Boston is known for containing the most intelligent and genuine people in
the country. We have THE BEST primary/secondary schools and colleges. Plus,
sports here are VERY notorious, especially when it comes to basketball. So
in other words, we have the Boston Celtics and most of us root for Tom
Brady, which he is from Boston.
+iMatthew Yeah, Boston is so "awesome" that everyone flee from there as soon as possible. Here in Brazil there is a city with this same behavior, "we are the best city in the country" but no one lives there for more than a few years lol
+DeathWish ...And? I still have people +1ing a comment I made like 2 years ago about a company that doesn't even exist anymore. I get people commenting on shit that I typed up years ago too. Then I have to re-read my post to see wtf they are talking about. Who cares. That battery thing I mentioned must have happened like 10 years ago anyway. It just happened to be one of (in not the) first comment I saw under the video, and I replied.
+DeathWish Lol, okay, how about you come and visit Philly. We'll throw batteries at our team if they start sucking, lol. How do you think we won the World Series in '08? They were afraid that if they lost we'd pull out the D-cells, lol.
+Adam Terry Says the guy who writes paragraphs bashing someone... Im the master at making people snap with using a few words.. Go lose some weight fatty
LOL. I'm not even angry with my comments. You can't judge someone if you do not know them. Just because you see a picture of me doesn't mean anything. If I use your mentality I could say you're self-esteem is pretty shitty considering you have a picture of Denzel Washington. I do not judge a person, if I do no know them. That's unfair. You may dislike because of my body type, which I don't care because it's just the internet. Your comment will be irrelevant to my life in no time at all. As for someone who is trying to label someone as angry, take your own advice, hypocrite. Your comment that stimmed this all looks like you're angry to me. It's funny how you have to resort to a elementary school insult to try to hurt me.
+Adam Terry I can judge you though, was that you posting that comment up there..... Listen Adam, go lose some fucking weight, I think thats what really triggering your anger...
We proved nothing. You can't judge someone by where they come from. Just because you had a bad experience with a few people, or however many would want to talk to you (it's probably few because of your very poor judgement on humans). I have never been to Boston. I can't say in my own words that there isn't some people like that. You find people like that everywhere. Honestly, too many people are sensitive today. I respect the hell out of the city of Boston especially after the bombing. I mean shit, can't you just be happy you live in the best fucking country in the world? (My extreme patriotism is now over.) Anyways, I understand what you're saying but, I just don't feel you can claim everyone is like that there. No one can begin to understand everything when it comes to a group of people in a large city. You can't meet everyone, so you can't make that statement.
Awh does someone need to suck on momma's tity? Shut the fuck up, bro. I'm not even from Boston, but being the die hard Celtics/Red Sox/Bruins fan that I am, you have to respect these teams dude. The funny thing is, the Lakers can't even make the playoffs with good players, and the Celtics made it, and our best fucking player was Evan Turner.

+Janis Fuh i did some searching and jimmy played justin on a sketch on saturday night live over a decade ago and he did a bit as justin on the vmas like 15 years ago lol
The key to a good Jimmy Fallon impression is to kiss up to your guests
excessively. "We love you, we love your show, we love you in *_*, etc."
Also make sure to interrupt your guests, mumble when excited, and get
really competitive-angry when playing games.
+. That may have been how mainstream radio tagged it, but those albums were far more than that. Also, saying it's pop is rather inconsequential since, historically, most albums that have won a large amount of grammys were pop.
What a BAD SPEECH!!!'..N STUPID MORRON GUY!!!!!...can hE stop saying
