Amtrak Train Derails At 106 MPH Leaving 7 Dead And 200+ Hospitalized
"The Amtrak train that derailed in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, killing at least seven, was barreling into a sharp turn at 106 miles an hour — more than twice ...
This is why we need self-driving trains. Real talk, I'm sure you can take
all those pay checks going to the train engineers and design a robust
automated system to replace their jobs.
If we can get science to create cars which drive themselves across the
country, why can't we get a simple fucking train that over rides the
engineer's attempts at breaking speed limits?
Cenk wants regulations?
Huh. I want MagLev vacuum tube trains which can go 2K-4K mph and are run by
computer systems.
We need technical solutions, especially when we have existing technology
and capacities NOW.
Why are we living in a world where we have slow, unsafe transportation when
it's utterly unnecessary? That's the focus of my outrage.
+UniversalPotentate well people still think that relying to much on technology is hurting us. But people need to know that we're not solely relying on technology it is still dependent on a human.
+UniversalPotentate yes. Also having an adequate procedure, when speeding up. Over here in Chicago in city trains are always delayed and go express. The only time there was an accident recently was last year I forgot what month. Where the train that goes to O'hare hair Airport, went beyond the plat form and crashed on the escalators. But that's because the conductor was asleep she worked in the morning. But even then those accidents can be avoided and should take measures to do something instead of just saying that they'll do a thorough investigation and leaving it there.
+d Valentine Is it up to 8 now?In any case, technical solutions are what work best.Another problem might have been that the train was delayed and the conductor was under pressure to speed up.That's more likely than he was joy riding.Bad management and perverse incentives cause accidents too.
+UniversalPotentate yes!! and if they used technology that monitored trains activity they would have avoided that tragedy. And 8 people would still be alive.
Because people running it are stupid and are to dumb to see these types of things can be avoided
