This is how to distill herbs for oils. I found this idea at //www.ehow.com/how_5604828_make-oil-distiller-kitchen-equipment.html. I'm the host and my ...
hey! don't be mean to the bird! he is stuck inside of a cage! if you were that bird, you would be screaming too! after all, birds belong in the sky, "free as a bird".
yeah, you have to do a bigger batch of lavender, and then separate the oil and hydrosol, otherwise you are just getting a hydrosol mixture with very little oil mixed in it. hydrosol is great for bath, beauty, and cleaning products, just not to be confused with pure medicinal essential oils.
First I want to thank you for this great video. And I believe you when you
say you need all that essential oils but can anyone tell me how to get them
at a good price? That's a ton of very expensive essential oils! It looks
like $50 worth.
I have begun to use the SoapCalc online tool and it is great. I did want
to ask. When I add my lye water to my crock pot, it gets hard really fast
and my stick blender won't blend. What am I doing wrong? (thanks for your
help)
+lanbuddyatgmail There are all sorts of things that can cause that. You might want to google "stop soap seizing up" and then start reading. There are also videos on youtube dealing with that problem. Most frustrating thing in the world! Good luck. :-)
How to Diffuse Essential Oils
Looking for a greener way to make your home smell good? A diffuser with essential oils is your answer! Learn how to run, clean, and find essential oil ...
I got this product recently. Totally love it use every day and I think I
will for years to come. I like lavender, lemon, orange and clove. My condo
is so much more pleasant now with my diffuser going
I keep my oil diffuser in my bedroom, I normally just use lavender oil, as
it helps with my headaches... I recently tried eucalyptus oil, it was nice
to clear my nose, but the smell of the eucalyptus, but I would like a
really nice smelly oil, I only ever use 100% oils as those cheap ones can
cause very bad headaches with all their chemicals...
+AshleysGreenLife I am new to the diffuser and essential oils and i just
bought that diffuser and Edens Essential Oils. Love your video. It says to
only use 5 drops of oil but do u know if you can mix oils and put more then
5 drops in? If like i have a headache or sick and it gives me a list of
oils to put in or something can i do so without hurting the diffuser or do
i only have to put 5 drops of one kind of oil at a time?
+Crazy.Mommy.Life87 Yes I did, but the essential oil company I used to use made me take it down and any video that even mentioned or showed their product. I hope to make a new one soon with the new brand I'm using that doesn't care if I mention them in a video: //www.nativeamericannutritionals.com In case you're looking for the recipe, here's one I would make with the Native American Nutritionals brand or whatever brand you like: 5 drops Melaleuca, 5 drops Immune Strength (//www.nativeamericannutritionals.com/immune-strength.htm ), 3 drops Oregano, 3 drops Lemon. Hope that helps!
How to Make Four Thieves Soap {essential oil blend}
Week 45 of Soaping101 and we are creating a soap made with the four thieves oil blend. Supplies: //goo.gl/7Zwt4K Royalty free music by Kevin MacLeod.
Merry Christmas Teach! I have a question about molds. I notice how the
different soapers line their molds and no matter now hard I try I can not
line the wooden molds with either parchment/freezer paper I end up throwing
it away and lining the wooden molds with garbage bag It works but the sides
aren't as smooth and pretty as the others Do you have a suggestion also I
am thinking about going with silicone for all my soaps do you know are all
silicone equal in quality ie,crafters choice flexware.
I would like to tell you that "four thieves" was invented by gypsies. The
truth is, a doctor wanted to know why they weren't dying. The doctor went
to the camp. At first they weren't saying anything but then sold the
recipe. Since gypsies have been hated forever, the doctor came up with the
thief story since gypsies weren't allowed to be heroes. My grandma knew
this recipe and some of the ingredients added like eucalyptus wasn't even
around back then.
I remembered the Four Thieves, but not the details of the story. So that's
the technique I use the most - the "Drop and Plop" - when all else fails.
Now it has a name. :-D I think these cut bars look like a landscape with
the green grass and brown valleys. I love Psy and Gangnam Style, so will
look forward to next week. Thanks, Teach xx
Only 2 to date...I had to purchase more oils and FO. Thank You for linking
Essential Depot, they are class...My last soap turned out so-so.It looked
good but I tried to blend my own EO and Absolutes...not too fragrant. I am
enjoying cold process and have several ideas in my head. You are so
creative and soaping CP is Very addicting.
I thought only fo's acellerated trace...didn't know that eo's could too. I
would have to make this as a gift and not for self...the only ingredient
I'm not allergic to was the eucalyptus and rosemary. The history lesson was
funny....how you gonna not catch a thief based on assumation. Haha lazy
police. Beautiful soap.
Wonderful ! I never knew the story of the 4 Theives. One of them must have
been a Botanist. I think the Clove oil is what made the batter set up so
fast? The end result is beautiful and I bet it smells amazing. Love
watching your vids and learning so much. Thanks C !
Its highly recommended that no more than 5% of any essential oil or EO
blend be used in any given application. Ive been researching this blend and
I'm curious where did you get the percentages for each essential oil used?
Love the video and I cant wait to try this.
I wait all week fir your lesson, teach. I'm glad someone else has
acceleration with this blend, and yours looks fabulous. Love your nice tall
thin mold too; is it new? Look forward to next week's lesson, sounds like
fun! X Linda
Hey.. how can I be this late? Have I lost a day? Hey Teach, great tutorial,
I have a bottle of Four Thieves blend, now I can put it to good use, hope I
can move as quick as you did if my soap speeds up! Thanks. Luv, Rene x
Wow you had to work fast with this one, still a very workable consistency;
it came out lovely... next week sounds like a fun one! lol, very looking
forward to see what you have up your sleeve :O) Cristina
Love the plop and flop faux funnel! Great save eh! May I ask at what rate
the blend was used ppo? It sounds like a stiff blend! thank you for your
effort and teaching us such fun!
I never knew the story of the four thieves until I saw this video. I have
all the oils so I made four thieves hot processed soap, lotion, hand
sanitizer & air diffuser. Thanks!
What a cool story I wonder if it's really true. How sad though how many
people they could've saved if true. I bet though that concoction still does
wonders
@mjone135 Yes, exactly. A lot of people don't realize how much plant
material you need in order to make EOs. If you see EOs really cheap
somewhere they have probably been cut with something to add more volume. As
with anything, you get what you pay for. Glad you enjoyed the video! You
should see how the women in Africa are making shea butter, you won't
complain about those prices either, lol. Look up "Shea: From Nuts to
Butter" and watch that. It's so awesome.
For deciduous leaf type plants or flowers, it generally distills in 30 mins
or less. However, evergreens take 4 about 4 hours. Each plant is different
and requires experimentation. Unfortunately, most people don't share this
info and it's been kept secret. The time of day that you harvest, the temp,
pressure and time required is slightly different. You must observe and
distill until the hydrosol begins to smell spent.
@traveln3 Yes, you only get a small amount of essential oil for a large
amount of plant material. Some plants yield higher or lower than what you
see here. I am going to try to post more videos showing other plants as I
do them. Yes, the oil is extremely concentrated and has a strong sage
smell. The major manufacturers of essential oils have very large distillers
and acres of plants. If only... :)
@Koiboy70 I was pleasantly surprised by my lavender yield the one time I
distilled lavender. I have a video called distilling jen's lavender, or
something like that. You can check it out if you want. I have more details
about how much lavender I distilled and my yield that I can't remember off
the top of my head.
I enjoyed this! It reminds of why EO's are so costly. I was just in my
local herbalist store yesterday complaining about how much certain EO's
cost vs others. Now that I see it makes alot of sense! Sage smells awesome
too! Thank you for sharing this
Hello Bonnie is the distilled oil the same as the Essential oils that they
sell in the stores or are they Olive oil infused? Also have another
question is there soap bars out there that keep misquitos away? Tks Bri
from Cali...
Thats great Bonnie and Anthony. And three wonderful children you have. I am
watching your sage essential oil. WOW what a video. Thanks for your kind
words. This is Anthony Z. We talked the other day from Rainier Distillers
I want to buy this!!! I saw one of those contraptions on ebay. I need to
check is heart magic? Thanks for your videos. Great stuff. Kitty too. Good
input by meowzer.
Hello. Approximately, how long does it take to the essential oil start
dropping, once the distillation begins? I know it depends a lot of so many
factors...
Once the distillate begins dripping, the essential oil is in there. It is a
matter of how long does it run until it stops producing oil, then hydrosol.
Great video, thanks for sharing! Where can you buy the botanical reeds? I
looked on Amazon and could only find the reeds with diffuser sets, not just
the reeds themselves.
I am trying to figure out what kinds of things I can use Essential Oils for
and what oils to use to do what....I use Young Living and really like them,
I am just really trying to figure out what ways to use them that will help
the most and with what kinds of things and such. I know they won't cure it
all and they aren't perfect for everyone...there is no guarantee and what
not but I have seen a lot in what its done for me and so its making me look
for more things that might work in my life and such.???
Get the most recent one you can (I think 2014). You can search amazon for it (Essential Oils Pocket Reference). The last one I bought was on ebay for $24. If you are a distributor already, ask your upline if they have any you could just buy from them.
If you don't have one already, an essential oil pocket reference is a huge help. I've been a Young Living distributor for a year now, and that is probably the best tool you can get and give someone who wants to learn how to best use essential oils.
I just had to come tell you I just used this soap I made, on my 2 chis. The
fleas literally dropped off them into the water. Maybe 3 or 4. I could
never find them, but knew they were there. This soap is A-MA-ZING!! I love
it and it absolutely works-better than anything I have ever bought over the
counter or at the Vets. I will never use anything with all those nasty
chems on them again.Oh yes, I used the reg.lard and soybean recipe w/all
the sup fats, no spice. Perfect Flea Killer Soap 5Stars!!
I will be making my order with ED in two weeks for the ingredients for this
soap. (I'll use your link) That will give me plenty of time to make my
molds. Wood is already bought and waiting for me. I can't wait to try
soapmaking ! We have two house dogs and a large ouitside dog so I thought
this is a good soap to make first. Thanks for all the instructions, Kim
!... I think I can do this !
Want to make this soap, but confused about details. You say it is a double
batch. Is your recipe above of 34 oz of basic oils a single or double
recipe? Also, mostly the amount of EOs. At minute 4:35 you said 2T each
cedarwood & tea tree for a double batch. At minute 7:53 you added 4T each
to the (double) batch in the video. Thanks in advance for clarifying this.
Hi Kim, here in the uk, our vegetable oil is Rapeseed Oil, I was wanting to
do your Cedarwood & Tea Tree Lard soap, so would I just replace the 8oz Soy
Bean Oil with 8oz Rapeseed Oil, can you also confirm for a single batch is
it 1 Tablespoon each of Cedarwood and Tea Tree or 2 tablespoon of each?
Thanks Debbie
Thank you for your knowledge around essential oils. I have recently ordered
some essential oils as week. I love them. I have only been soaping for a
couple of months and have learned a lot from you. Thanks again. Looking
forward to more videos.
