thanks! you said time out of traditional fridge for a white, but how long should you pull a bottle before serving for a red like merlot?

About 45 minutes to an hour depending on how hot room temperature is.

Hey Alina! Yes, a new world Chardonnay might fit the bill as well as some Rhone and southern French whites. But you can find those characteristics in a number of wine regions depending on winemaker style. Head to one of these wine shops (my favs in NYC) and ask the staff what's available - Chambers Street, Frankly Wines, Vine Wine, Smith & Vine, Uva and Flatiron Wines. You will definitely walk out with something perfect.

You wanna look for a Chardonnay that has spent time in oak :) the more oak the more creamy vanilla buttery notes you will get. Im not to familiar with American wines (I work in the wine industry in New Zealand) but hope that helps!
