well spoken sir, this is the same reason the English and French did not send forces to holland when it was attacked. the german attack was too fast and our forces were too weak. we only had half the AA guns we needed to properly defend our country and 90% of the man gunning them had no idea how to man to man fight. then there were the planes only a handfull. and 1 tank. yup GG holland, our forces at sea were decent tho untill the java sea that was.

As Churchill repeated and Napoleon was told, 'there are bitter weeds in England.' Say what you like about the whys and wherefores of the conflict but there was no chance in hell of belligerent Nazis conquering Britain. The best he could have got is peace or an alliance. The idea of conquering modern Great Britain or even ultimately defeating them in a conventional war is utterly absurd. Britain could have fought alone and ground the whole Axis to standstill.
