Why AIG needed to be bailed out and how it affected public policy. Also, how the bailout will positively affect the future of The United States. Leave your opinions ...
Ignorance of this video is prolific; dare I say even lies? The sociopathic
natures of corporations and banks; and, the politicians bought by them need
to be wiped off the face of the earth. Meh!!!
+Eric Dietz Or "F*ck AIG" because there are children out there, my bad.
We Bailed Out AIG, Now They're Suing Us?!
"Fresh from launching a branding campaign to try to rechristen itself as a paragon of patriotism, the giant insurer American International Group is reportedly ...
its easy you pencil neck dweeb. cut worker hours here, send production to
china, taiwan, there, hire consultants then pay them hundreds of thousands
to tell you the same information. oh heres another "genius" ceo descision,
lets overload a business with debit so on paper they arent posting profit,
therefore we dont have to pay nearly as much in taxes!!! these are common
sense corner cutting business tactics that you think are so secretive. you
sir are an idiot, decision making dont make me laugh
We did not make any profits, the FED gave the big Banks including a lot of
foreign Banks trillions and zero interest money, we get a devalued dollar
and no interest on our interest bearing accounts, and retirement funds are
hurting. Politicians and their friends (Banks and large Corporations) made
out like bandits, because that is what they are. Hey, they are giving us
all Security in the form of taking away our civil rights, that's so we
cannot complain. Question is, do we all feel Secure now?
Frustrated! I'm downright MAD! The American people didn't want to do all
these bailouts anyway! Now to be repaid like this! I hope the government
remembers this the next time one of one of these companies ever ask for
another bailout. Let them go under! It seems like the employees of AIG
would be grateful for the bailout that saved their jobs and chastise their
shareholders for even thinking about turning on the American people. I hope
that anyone who presently has AIG insurance drops their cov
go ahead and try and fool yourself but the things i listed happen in this
economy and you are lying only to yourself to try and dismiss what i said.
thats just the tip of the iceberg. CEOS ARE COMING FROM THE BOTTOM!!! what
a fucking joke!!. ceos and cfos all those cheif executives are being handed
these jobs by their daddys family friends. 100 hr weeks!!! these fucks have
legions of assistants to delegate ALL WORK TO. FLIPPING BURGERS? i own a
moving business with city contracts bitch.
Ok well build a strawman argument. For one I never said anything about
"standing up"" against the US gov't with a "pea shooter", nor am I
advocating that. The police and military are U.S. citizens, and they are
the ones getting fucked the worst, you think they just have blind
allegiance? I just think if most people think they are on a team (Dems or
Reps) and bicker back and forth and point fingers at each other, nothing
will change and it will get increasingly worse.
Barack Obama unequivocally did NOT bail out the banks!! For the last time
it was George W. Bush and his Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson (former CEO
of Goldman Sachs) that cooked up that idea, hastily sped the plan through
Congress (most of which are bought off by Wall Street anyway), and signed
into law. Yes, TARP, the Troubled Assest Relief Program, was signed into
law on October 3, 2008, a full month before candidate Obama was even
elected! My God your dumb!!!
because when the government gave taxpayer money to AIG, they/we did so at a
higher interest rate because they were considered to be a high risk...you
know, like how banks go and do the same thing to individuals they deem to
be high risk. so really the government was just doing the standard practice
of the industry and AIG got all butt hurt about it. hell i think the crooks
should have been allowed to go under. ps: screw Apophis, hail Sokar!! :P
The trouble is, they have set the whole lot up like a house of cards, and
not deliberately in order to defend themselves against being prosecuted,
but simply to maximise short term profit (albeit in ways that destroy long
term viability). And the problem is, if you look into the structure of
almost ANY major American bank, you will find the same fundamental flaws,
they are all likely to collapse if you shone a light into any of them.
You're watching TYT of course they won't say. Anyways according to a
certain article this is the reason. "Greenberg claims that the terms of the
bailout—which eventually resulted in the government owning 92 percent of
the company—were too onerous. The government deprived shareholders of
billions of dollars and the violated the Fifth Amendment's ban on the
government seizure of property without just compensation to the owners."
How about you tell us what the reason for the lawsuit is? This part of the
reason why I stopped watching you guys and have moved on to Sourcefed and
the PhillyD show. They give us all the facts and keep the opinions to a
comment here or a slight remark there, but they're personal opinions are
rarely ever the majority of the video. I was hoping this channel had
changed... but apparently not... So much for a credible news source.
Cenk I'm disappointed that you are missing the bigger picture. Yes it is a
dick move by AIG, and hopefully will be laughed out of court. HOWEVER, the
bailout required AIG give up any legal rights to go after investment banks
like Goldman Sachs for their fraud, which led to AIG needing to be bailed
out. Its funny how AIG are going after the US Govt, and not the Investments
Banks, says a lot doesnt it.
this is why we shouldn't bail out the banks in a normal market situation
they would have to file bankruptcy just like average people. they should
have been jailed, when we bail them out it transfers wealth from the poor
to the rich and only delays the economic collapse but makes the collapse
much worse. we need to stop fooling ourselves the country is bankrupt and
we will have an economic collapse
Sooner or later the people will literally snap and the torch and pitchfork
mobs will come after these wall st criminals. Now do you understand where
all this gun banning bullshit is coming from? They're scared... yet they
keep digging themselves deeper into that hole anyway. And the rich think
they're smarter than the rest of us while they paint a giant target on
their own foreheads. Idiots.
I PROMISE YOUR PUSSY ASS YOU COULDNT WORK NEARLY HALF AS HARD AS ME YOU OLD
FUCK. ive been working since i was fucking 15 and i can tell you with that
position you have never physically toiled in your entire life, if you had
maybe you could relate. how can the HARDEST WORKERS GET PAID THE LEAST!!!
IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE. EARNING 300X THE SALARY OF THE BOTTOM EMPLOYEES
IS A FUCKING INSANE
I know. I'm not referring so much to AIG suing the government, I'm talking
about AIG taking their handouts from the government and then the
expectation that they're supposed to be grateful to the government and
accept conditions. It's better to not have such a deal from the first
place. We shouldn't be bailing them out, and they shouldn't be accepting
the "help".
Thees filthy, lousing, low life PIGS are incredible. They would have been
dead in the water if wasn't for the US Government. Every one of these
"vacationing after loosing billions" MORONS need to be put away for a long
time. They steal without conscience and act like they're doing us a favor.
WHEN ARE THESE BANKSTERS GOING TO BE STOPPED?!!!
Repubs need to try to ree-xplain to me why the financial big wheelers like
AIG are great Americans & I'm a burden to taxpayers. I never got bailed
out, & I'm up to my ears in debt from student loans and credit cards that
I'm paying off at usury interest rates. Clearly I'm just too dumb to get
why average people like me are fucked up.
lol has anyone seen, Star Wars: Episode II ??? How the galaxy's
corporations join forces to from the separatists that want to dismantle the
republic?? I swear this is going to happen in the US, the big corporations
are slowly dismantling democracy. Just saw the movie today for the first
time and I kept thinking about this lol
...They probably will win. But what I don't understand is that seizure
usually results in something like kicking the person out of home. Than not
giving them anything, or nothing worth the value. What I don't understand
is they did sign the agreement. Shouldn't they be done same way as they do
us? "Read the fine print" rule.
Well I wouldn't say the AIG is worse then the Nazis or KKK, but they are on
the same level. They already robbed us blind and now intend to do it once
again. The whole mess they put themselves into after they insured faulty
mortgages that they knew would fail and made sure not to hold enough
capitol to pay them when they did.
To end the "that's liberal" arguments, let me just say, according to the
North Carolina Public Voter Information, they were both registered
Republicans at the time, and possibly voted McCain in 2008
+Boom Stick There is no question that Rhett is a conservative, he seems like one. I think Link is probably more of a moderate, but was a registered Republican for maybe religious or cultural reasons
There was also this one time when Link said that someone was ''obviously a jerk'' for being a White Nationalist and a Nazi sympathizer (simply talked with Nazis without sending them to hell.. maybe he was kinda a Nazi himself but as a person who disliked Germans as a young teenager before I started looking into WW2 history and comparing it with modern depictions.. I never call them jerks, not even before I met a bunch of them and all the myths shattered for me). I mean, I know republicans hate Nazis too but it's the alexjones ones that go out of their way to advertise it so I thought it was pretty much case closed with that. Also clarifying things like ''I don't use guns'' without a reason and mentioning racism even though you obviously try to keep the show out of those fields also gives me the vibe that you have strong preconceived notions about somethings, so much that you find it hard to hide them. I don't see that so much with conservatives. I'm still skeptical.
+andcut2001 I got the sense that they were liberals when I saw the people they work with. Very communist/anarchist appearances. One even had a che guevara t-shirt, one looked like an emo etc etc. And the comments I hear every now and then sound democratic (from the party) as well. But I do think they try to keep it clean. I get in a lot of political debates every day with both parties as a Nationalist so I thought I wouldn't fall so far away.. interesting.
The Federal Reserve says the U.S. government has agreed to provide an $85 billion emergency loan to rescue the huge insurer AIG. The Fed says the U.S. ...
So why stop there? You don't like the idiot. Good. You like the educated
one(does not mean he'll make smart decisions). Also good. President is one
position your worried about. What about the even brighter politicians. Are
you getting their back? We need to. Just because Obama is better than
McCain does not make him great. There are great men and women serving this
country far beyond what Obama has ever done. Find then and help them. They
are just as important to our government as the president.

As I understand it: If a bankrpucy judge and his people came in and
assigned a 'value' to the mortgage default swaps, derivatives and other
toxic exotics that AIG holds, all the other money center banks, i-banks and
insurance companies holding this shit paper would be forced to write down
the value of reams of this stuff they are holding, 1.4 QUADRILLION! Most
are by law BANKRUPT. Protest the FED Day 22Nov! Repeal The Federal Reserve
Act. H.R.2755 by Ron Paul. It will take a Revolution!
It was the Clinton admin, obsessed with multiculturalism, that dictated
where mortgage lenders could lend, and originally helped create the market
for the high-risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus the
balance sheets of many of Wall Street. Tough new regulations forced lenders
into high-risk areas where they had no choice but to lower lending
standards to make the loans that sound business practices had previously
guarded against making. That or face harsh govt penalties.
LOL..that's the weakest of attempts to try and link up the democrats with
this disaster. The discerning amongst us know who to hold accountable. We
see what the last 8 years have brought us. This is how FUCKED up your
government is. They admit that the subprime mortgage crisis was the result
of BAD LOANS. Then they turn around and give an 85 BILLION DOLLAR BAD LOAN
to a company who wouldn't qualify for a home mortgage with that debt to
income ratio. Definition FISCAL IRRESPONSIBILITY!
Calling All Patriots! Have you heard? Nov 22nd Huge Rally/Protests Outside
Every Federal Reserve in all 12 Federal Reserve Districts. Repeal The
Federal Reserve Act if you want your freedom back. Period. Read G. Edward
Griffins' "The Creature From Jekyll Island" before the event. Aron Russo's
AFTF. Educate yourself and others then join us in action. These Central
Bankster Ratbastards have subjected us to 1.4 QUADRILLION in mortgage
default swaps, derivatives and other toxic exotics.
Conservative bullshit, Phil Graham thats who you can thank for the
deregulation of these markets both housing and energy. Yeah, all these
predatory lenders getting people who wanted nothing more than to own a home
convinced that they could afford a flexible rate mortgage because their is
NO responsibility or over sight on these loans, that has NOTHING to do with
it? Yes, they should have done their homework but deregulation was the
EXACT CAUSE by Phil Graham, McBush's main man...
I hate the generations of ignorant people that do not realize that
"bail-out" and "loan" means HIGHER FUCKING TAXES! Stop screwing over our
children and grandchildren and so forth. It's not just another $40 billion
dollars! If things like this continue we will be forced to choose sides
between the elite/government and true freedom as per the constitution/bill
of rights. We can do it whiteknuckles, but you must get angry and be loud
about your rights being destroyed. TH[]INK
The whole system of society (internationally intertwined) is a total scam!
Federal Reserve created due to "bank panics" in 1900's. Banking families
"came to the resue" to instigate Federal Reserve. They caused the scares in
order to gain control of making money for the US! And FED is just a tool of
the real international Money Owners Modern economic crisis caused by the
Money Owners behind the veil who nobody ever sees. Economic crisis = Chess
move by NWO
Bush 5 years ago asked Congress to create a new agency which would
determine capital reserve requirements, and ensure Fanny & Mae companies
managed their risks properly. As we know now, those calls for tighter
regulation by the Bush administration went unanswered. Why? Congressional
Democrats feared that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply
reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing. Now
this disaster.
WOW! How cool! I now own 80% of an insurance company. Awesome! I also own 3
Trillion in mortgages. Ok... Ok... some of them are bad. But who cares..?
How fun is this ppl? Look on the bright side we can now insure ourselves...
no wait... that's not right. Heey! Wait a minute! Why am I still paying
insurance when I own 80% of the company. That doesn't seem right... oh
well... what's on TV, something good I hope!
Next time a they ask you for your payment, tell the lady on the phone that
"I own part of your company thanks to George Bush my tax dollars have
bailed out out". Then politely ask them for YOUR payment, since they owe
YOU billions in tax dollars, when they sit silently on the phone, tell them
"Well looks like I will need to send you to collections, you will be
receiving a letter, have a nice day":})
Oh I get it..the Feds will give billions from the money WE pay in to the
tax structure to take care of US to business that lobbied lawmakers to
force people to buy insurance. (Try driving without it) Meantime, we keep
paying the insurance premiums to them too, i/e business as usual. Well
heck, as long as it was fair.. give me a break. What the hell is this,
welfare checks for the rich?
You must all thank your goverment for giving the Federal Reserve the right
to print money out of thin air to consolidate their power. Be ready to
become the slave of the international bankers. Corrupt congressmen are
guilty. Watch this movies: Zeitgeist, Freedon To Fascism, The Money
Masters, Money as Debt, Monopoly Men. The ultimate truth relies on those
movies.
see what you can do by printing money? save your friends ass.now about
those daily phone calls over my 30 year old bad student loans where the
f*** is MY bailout under the equal protection clause. Is this the same
government? I have to drink blended scotch with my cheech valdez coffee. At
least this depression we dont have to suffer prohibition too.
I'm tired of the GOP ideal of privatizing profits while socializing costs.
(Read AIG, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac) I don't like the bailing out of these
poorly run, mismanaged, publicly held, companies who are guilty of
corporate avarice and capitalist malfeasance. It amounts to welfare for the
rich.
The villain of AIG is MARTIN SULLIVAN. This individual should suffer public
ridicule every day for the rest of his life. He received $10's of millions
of dollars for sinking the AIG ship and refuses to give any of it back
while tens of thousands of investors have lost their life savings.
CFR at work Vague explained $500 Billion Dollar Bailout. AIG given a loan
or mortgage of $84 Billion at 12% interest. Suddenly $500 Billion made out
of nothing or a $84 Billion loan. Debt into money. Nothing is backing the
$500 Billion Bail out. AIG is worth 100 time over its value...
Democrats in congress are overseeing the financial regulations right now.
Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. Once again the dems fail. There's no reason to
believe there will be any change when they could change things right now
and have failed to do anything for years.
Napoleon'sUncleRico13: The current bailout crisis was precipitated by
policies advocated by Robert Rubin and Lawrence Summers, who were Clinton's
Treasury Secretaries, and they are currently two of Obama's main economic
advisers.

The republicans have been the absolute top proponents of deregulation for
the past 40 years!!!! Republicans insisted on deregulation. Im not doubting
that the democrats did their share of complicity for this crisis. Both
parties did. This is why ordinary people cant depend on these parties for
change.
Thanks for posting this. I am in the Mortgage business and it has been on a
down hill roll the last 8 years. I can't get Democracy Now on my TV

People are losing their homes in the millions, and the rich just stole $700
billion dollars from US taxpayers, and all you can think about is some
insignificant relationship that a politician had with someone else???? Are
you really that narrow-minded?
And of course for the regular person like you and me, the Bankruptcy Laws
got a lot harder. My solution: They just call a world wide "Jubilee" with
all debts to all are pardoned and we all can start over. That would
certainly jump start the economy.

actually... nicks got a point... MORE is not necessary. We just need to
give the seven regulatory agencies currently charged with oversight, a
swift kick in the arse... and get them doing their jobs. We need to stop
letting the corporations appoint and staff their government regulatory
agencies. Thats the fundamental problem here... corruption through
corporate influence.
Communism started in Germany due to the Capitalists greed during the
Industrial Revolution, not saying the Communist regimes implemented their
ideology positively, but we have to see things in the context of history.
Why is this ideological battle between so called "Free Market Capitalism"
and Communist/Socialist system continuing today?
