Columbus would have been killed by the locals if he and his men had been unarmed.The native americans were not peacefull treehuggers living in harmony with nature.They were brutal savages who fought and killed each other all the time.Now they have casinos and refrigerators.He probably came to conquer and exploit but the natives had been doing that to each other for millenia with no real progress.Columbus opened up the savage new world without getting killed.
