o.O

I don't think Dick realized just how dangerous Perry was until that night
in The Clutters' home. I personally believe that Dick was speaking the
truth when he said "Perry Smith killed The Clutters. He killed them all."
Dick didn't have the courage to do it, although (arguably) he was the more
evil of the two.
+john smith Well, in that case, maybe they (Florida) can try it again 1000's of years from now ... you know, dig them up again and maybe the DNA will somehow be viable at that distant point in time and then Florida can execute a pair of 1000's of years old remains. They should make sure, however, to withhold the fact that their DNA findings had been inconclusive at the 50-year mark.
+john smith If the Walkers had been MY family, I'm not sure how much passion I'd have for the whole thing more than 50 years after the fact. If I were one of the Walker family and wanted to feel that Hickok and Smith were guilty of killing my kin, I'd be satisfied that they had been hanged elsewhere (Kansas), no matter where, especially if the crime they had been hanged for had occurred before the crime that took my family; that way I wouldn't have had to feel that they had killed my family and then killed again. Kansas had hanged them; was something more necessary to serve the cause of justice? Remember the film "True Grit"? Where the Texas Ranger LeBoeuf (Glen Campbell) asks Mattie: "Wouldn't a hanging in Texas suit you just as well as a hanging in Arkansas?" Actually, if the Walkers had been MY family, I would have wondered why Florida law enforcement had not been able to tie Hickok and Smith to the Walker murders over the course of the five long years that H&S sat immobile on Death Row in Kansas. There were all those claimed sightings of them in Florida just before and after the Walker murders (which means presumed witnesses) and supposedly some physical evidence (a knife?) found on H&S when they were captured in Las Vegas, yet they sat in their Death Row cells for five years with no apparent action on the part of Florida law enforcement to make a case. Hmmm ... maybe there was no case to be made. But maybe you can petition to have them re-exhumed, tried in Florida for the Walker murders, and re-executed. (I think Florida has the electric chair, not hanging, so you can seen their skeletons be electrocuted.)
+lindsey lefrois Dr baden says DNA from the bones was still viable for 1000s of years . the under wear stains were tainted , not ruined . big difference
+lindsey lefrois. If it was your family? would you consider it a waste of money? the DNA cleared quite a few men who were looked upon with scorn . it was a good thing . it set those men free
+theblueman57 There was no reason to believe that DNA samples so old (and from dead bodies) would be any good. Anyway, they are ruled out by virtue of being dead, unless Florida intended to hang them again after exhuming them. Chasing dead men ... the ultimate waste of taxpayer money.
+lindsey lefrois no DNA back then . They were exhumed in 2012. They took bone fragments, results the DNA in the underwear was tainted. Results were inconclusive. It didnt rule them out . They were seen in tallahasse the day of the murders . Capotes book was incorrect. Google it
+theblueman57 Florida law enforcement had plenty of time to link Hickock and Smith to the Walker murders while they (H&S) were still alive. In reality, Hickock and Smith were arrested (in Las Vegas) just 11 days after the Walker murders. Due to defense appeals, it took the state of Kansas 5 years to execute Hickock and Smith in the Clutter case. Plenty of time for Florida to put together a case. What did they do? Anything?
