Hope your head is ok!! Parrots don't have a pecking order, but they're
different from chickens in a LOT of ways - you wouldn't think they were all
birds!
+Alex saile Donde vivimos en Nueva York, cerca de Canadá, la tierra y todo lo que puede ser impresionante en el verano tenemos una gran cantidad de la hermosa tierra que tenemos las cuatro estaciones. Where we live in New York near Canada the ground and everything can be stunning in the summer we get a lot of beautiful land we have all four seasons.
Maybe you can start black soldier fly and/or meal worm bins to raise treats
for your feathered livestock. From what I have seen they appear a fairly
hands-off, low time commitment way to supplement with exactly what your
quail and chickens want. Though the initial time and money investment may
make it a not worthwhile venture.
+dirtpatcheaven black soldier fly larva in the large stage are to big for quail unless your grinding them in the feed, I currently raise flightless fruit flies, meal worms and dubia roaches (that if big need grinding) for the quail as well as sprouts and veggies.... I feed the grain wet to avoid the wasting of a lot of food..
We have been thinking about raising Quail ... We built a closed in chicken
yard by using hog panels and attaching them to the top of the building then
bowed them downward and attached them to railroad ties (about a 12x14 ft
area ) then ran chicken wire all across and under the panels and ties etc
to prevent any critter from digging under and into the yard.... Plus a well
built building of course - .needless to say it was like fort knocks lol ..
Would you think that would work for them ...
+Ozark Cottontop I think quail will be easier to contain than chickens, but since I haven't tried it yet in a bigger area can't say for sure. The few times they got out there was no flying and they were super easy to catch. No eggs yet but we are waiting patiently ( or not so patiently).
+Samy Ismael Yes, until the sun comes out it doesn't matter how many lights I turn on in the morning the camera can hardly see anything, we just can't do anything about it...sorry quality so bad it was super early in the morning so no natural light.
