Thank you for the great compliment!! 1-The gate on the front end would be
much more accessible!! It would defiantly make the design that much
better!! 2-Nope just stapled to the frame, but I do have the whole coop
sitting on 4x4 pieces of wood that are dug flush with the ground and they
act as a foundation, keeping the wood from rotting ect. 3- I would like to
change 2 things one being the overall height of the coop, and the other
would be to have painted it :( Best of luck with yours!! :)
I'm just about done building mine using the same plan. Your video has
helped a lot to overcome some hurdles with the original video itself;
thanks! 3 questions: What do you think about putting the gate on the front
end instead? (I figure this may be easier for access and with shoveling,
etc.) 2. Did you bury your mesh wire around the perimeter? Anything else
you would do differently or suggest? Thanks again.
Thanks Mark for ckecking it out! :) I appreciate it. I cauaght the quail
wild so they were pretty freeked as you can tell in the vid, but i have
been down regularlly throughout last week and i have had one of them eat
out of my hands!! And indeed it is cold up here in British Columbia. Best
of luck to you and your birds- Hogan
@TheQuailman97 I actually caught them from my property. There is still
about 50-100 running around during the day!! I would say they are about a
year or so old and if you wanted to buy quail you could probally buy them
for 4$ a bird!. If you want i can upload a video on how i catch them. :)
Best of luck.
Im working one the video right now!! The video was made a long time ago,
(when I finished the coop) but is still a cool little coop to share :) The
coop actually Is more of a breeding coop/ coop for someone only with a
couple birds ;) Hope that makes sense, haha and thank you for watching my
videos!
Hey FunneyGuy8890 it is fairly costly to build. Brand new lumber your
looking at about $400-450 that been said there is nothing wrong with
building it with older lumber/recycled lumber which would drastically
reduce the price!! :) Thanks for the comment!
Thank you for all the nice comments guys!! All the quail that were in this
coop are actually free ranging through out my yard now :) They come back in
the coop periodically to roost but spend the majority of there time walking
around the acreage!!
Hi, just wanted to comment on your excellent DIY quail coop - well done! I
like the external pully system for the internal door it's a great little
design and well made overall. Looks cold where you are...Crikey! Cheers,
Mark
Awesome! :) The cost is roughly $300 of new lumber, and another $50 or so
for shingles hinges, and latches!! The quail are very hardey and can make
it through just about anything!! Thanks for checking it out. Take care.
Hey I followed you over from the other guys video showing the step by step.
You did a good job on that! Thxs for the tour. You gave me some ideas. Got
some wk old RIR chicks and I need to get busy. They grow so fast.
@nikleson Awesome! Thanks for watching. I'll send you a meesage tommorow on
the dementions of the door and feed box. (Sorry i cant do it now i have to
study.) So i'll be sure to get back with you. - Quailreview
@nikleson OH crap im so sorry i forgot :( ill be sure to get you demensions
tommorow morning. I feel like an idiot!! Hows your coop so far and my test
was a breeze thanks :) Thanks for your patience!
Thanks evreyone for all the like's! Please feel free to suggest future vids
for me to make, about quail, chickens, coops, ect :) Thanks again for
likeing this and best of luck to all for 2012. :D
@QuailReview Great stuff, no worries it's cool to see the whole thing
built. I'm getting to the point of needing the dimensions for the sliding
door and pulley system. Hope studies went well.
You introduced me to the concept of quail raising, now, I'm going to catch
some quail from the woods near my house and make a quail coop out ofan
existing structure). Thanks a lot. :)
Just building the same coop for some chickens, I wanted to know how did you
make the little door opener pulley system? Also what are the dimension of
the little feeder you made too?
I am just about finished with this coop for my chickens, and have been
trying to figure out how to do the pop door. I love your idea--any tips on
how to get it right? Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the video , it did work everything for me , except that
the quails lay the eggs below the houes , and it gets difficult to collect
the eggs
